    How to deter hawks?

I have several geese that seem to be a good hawk deterrents. There is actually a pair of large hawks nesting in a neighbors tree a couple hundred feet from my fence line and those hawks are always flying over my property yet have never lost a bird to them. The geese look up at them and honk, I...

Chicken nipple waterer on the cap of a water bottle works well. As for broken wings, it will heal but she might not be able to fly up to high perches as well. It's not a big deal for most chickens.

    Soo..We adopted a Great Pyrenees..Lost 9 chickens...

I have a Great Pyrenees/Akbash mix I get at ten weeks, he is 8 months now and with the flock the whole day. A lot of training and monitoring was needed and is still ongoing but I have a family of seven foxes that have not made off with any birds this year. It's part luck and part paranoia to...

Flock devastation by foxes, 22 reduced to 9, Help!

    HELP! GROWTH/TUMOR ON CHICK.

Looks like a full crop. You can easily confirm by not feeding overnight. Tumors don't go away overnight but crops empty. Also crops feel a bit squishy and malleable, tumors are firm and do not change shape with manipulation.

Chickens are quite resilient once they survive the initial shock, I had one attacked by a raccoon and it tore a piece of skin from her neck/chest that exposed her crop but didn't puncture it. I cleaned her up with some water but pretty much left her to her own devices in a separate pen. She...

Emergency!!!!! Can't get my Pullet's beak to stop bleeding, HELP!!!

Hello, don't panic. Most bleeding stops with direct pressure. Hold the chicken still and just press your finger over the bleeding spot for several minutes. Don't worry about applying anything over the area for now. If area still bleeds after five minutes, just hold longer.
