1 Gallon Poultry Waterer

Pros: None
Cons: Poop in the water, wood chips in the water, have to clean constantly
Hard to complain because it was given to us but I got sick of it very quickly and went to a better system using those little red screw in nipples you see all over youtube and Ebay. The One Gallon Poultry Waterer is a waste of time and money.

Pros: easy to refill
Cons: hard to clean, gets dirty fast
This is a good little waterer for a small flock. If you aren't looking for anything fancy, it works well. It's easy to refill, just take off the red part, put it upside down and stick a hose in it, and then put the red part on, flip it over really fast and stick it in. But, because of the texture of the plastic, it got algae in it often and often needed to be cleaned out.
Pros: Easy to use, Good for small flocks
Cons: Sawdust gets in water easily
This little waterer is great for small flocks and is easy to use. The only problem is that dirt and stuff can get in the water because it is low to the ground, but that can happen to almost all waterers.
I would recommend getting a few of these as they work great. Also, if the bottom breaks (accidents happen, you might step on it) you can easily replace it as this is a common product as feed stores and stuff.

Pros: Great size, easy to fill and clean
Cons: No way to hang
This waterer was a great price. It stays a lot cooler in the hot temperatures than the metal waterers. It keeps my chickens happy. It holds enough water for a day assuming you water morning and night. It is easy to unscrew for filling. Unfortunately it does not come with an option to hang. My chickens are constantly getting it muddy, which clogs up the hole that adds more water. You can not cut a hole in the top to make a modification to hang because then water would pour out while filling. Overall it serves its purpose but is a bit harder to maintain the upkeep.
Pros: Sturdy, holds enough water for backyard hens, easy to refill
Cons: Sometimes water overflows, chickens get litter into it even when its on bricks
I used to use this waterer. My chickens liked it, and it was easy to clean and refill. The base screws off easily, creating a wide opening to scrub away algae, etc. Chickens have an easy time drinking from the rather wide base.

However, sometimes the waterer would start "leaking".The base would fill up so much that it would overflow onto the ground. This sometimes happened when I didn't put it quite level on the bricks, but sometimes it just seemed to do this randomly. Also, my chickens scratched wood shavings and dirt into it often.
Overall, though, it is a good waterer for a backyard flock.
Pros: Easy to clean, works great
Cons: can get dirty if not raised on bricks
I use this for watering my 7 pullets. I fill it up in the morning and at night it seems to be 3/4 gone. Perfect for small flocks and if put on a couple of bricks or something it stays clean all day. It works better than the $30 nipple water that I have. They only use this one now, for $28 cheaper I would recommend it to anyone with a small flock.
Over all I think this is a good water. It is light weight and good for bigger hens. The one thing I don't like is if you don't get the red lid on right it will come off and water will go EVERYWHERE! Over all though a good water.

Pros: Easy to clean, fill, and chickens use it well
Cons: None
This is my favorite water for young poultry and chicks once they are beyond the small, safe waterers. It's just common sense that you have to set it on a level spot. I know it will splash when you turn it over, I just wait until I am outside to turn it over and you learn to put your hand on the bottom to turn it. To me that's just the way it is.
Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: Overflows, comes apart
If the user fills the tank to capacity and turns it over without supporting the tray, the two will separate and release nearly all the water. The tray also has overflowed on several occasions, again creating a wet coop floor and necessitating a premature refill. I think this product could be improved with the following:
1. A few more screw threads to enable a more secure connection between tank and tray
2. A smoother interface for the tank and tray to enable a good seal. (Tray surface is not uniform.)
3. Include an O-ring or gasket to improve the seal.
For now, I smear on Vaseline to help make a better seal, but it's inconvenient and still not reliable for preventing overflow. I would gladly pay double the price I paid for a reliable product.

Pros: Easy to clean, Good for small number of chicks, fits right in the brooder
Cons: If it's too full, the bottom will come off and your water will spill.
This is a great waterer! The only problem I had with it was that I filled it to the top and when i flipped it over the bottom came off from the weight and spilled water everywhere. But if you fill it up about 3/4 of the way it works great!
Pros: Easy to clean- worked well
Cons: Broke easily
I had a few of these. They were easy to clean and worked well. The only thing is, after a year or so, they would brake. (My fault of course, but weren't very durable)

Pros: Plastic so OK to use with ACV, fairly inexpensive
Cons: No handle, hard to thread base to container
I already have a large metal waterer for my small flock but wanted a plastic one so that I could put apple cider vinegar in the water. I purchased this 1 gallon waterer expressly for that purpose.

I put it up on a thick block of wood to keep it from being on the ground and that eliminates poop and dirt in the water. No one has tried to perch on the top of it yet but I guess they could if they wanted to. I only have 3 chickens so this is good for days before I need to refill.

Cons: It cannot be hung. Sometimes I have to try a few times before the red base will thread onto the top. It doesn't have a handle so you have to fill it and carry it upside down to the coop and then flip it over before setting it down.

I have no regrets as it serves the purpose I bought it for and was inexpensive. I did have to buy the two pieces separately, the estimated price of $13. is for both pieces combined. I don't have a problem carrying it and I didn't need to hang it so I'm okay with those aspects.

Pros: It held enough for the chickens at their age
Cons: No bail
I am disabled with multiple back problems and severely crooked hands with little grip power. This waterer is very hard to hold for someone like me, it really needs a bail. I walk with a cane so only had the other hand to hold it when putting it in the chick pen.
Cons: leaks dosent hold much gets pooped on
i got rid of mine.
Pros: doesn't leak, easy to unscrew
Cons: Short so chicks sit on top, liter gets in it easily, and it is sometimes hard to screw on
I have to clean out the bottom almost twice a day, and chick poop on the top frequently. But two of them hold enough for 28, 2 week olds for a week or so.
Pros: Does not leak and a nice cheap price
Cons: Needs to be off the ground, needs a grip to unscrew
I am not happy with this waterer. When I try to open it or close it, it is extremely hard. I can't seem to get a good grip on the plastic. It does not leak which is a good thing. However it needs to be off the ground I have 3month old chickens and they are always getting dirt and poo in it from scratching. I am in the market for another one and this one will be on ebay shortly. If you have hands larger than 6 1/2inches from the bottom of the palm to the tip of the middle finger it might work for you.

Pros: Waters the bantams for a couple days
Cons: Is hard to screw on sometimes..
It's nice because it waters the bantams, but it got brittle and it's starting to break! It's sometimes hard to screw on...
Pros: Easy to clean and fill
Cons: litter gets in the water easy
This is a great basic waterer, the only downside is if you have it directly on top of your litter the litter gets in the water and you have to change it out multiple times a day. We out a board under it and it works better now. Great for multiple birds.

Pros: Sturdy
I don't really like having to take the bottom off to fill but these are pretty sturdy and fare excellent as a quick waterer until you can get something larger. I would recommend this to a friend.
