I have two of these for my small flock of 5 hens. Each day I take fresh water to the hens in one waterer and bring the other one inside for cleaning and refilling. If we will be away for a day or two, I put both waterers in the coop. The waterer rests on a concrete block and I level it with shims. In their large run I have a larger waterer that fills from the top. It rests on bricks and is also leveled. These work for me. One of the small waterers did crack and break, but I replaced it easily and inexpensively at the local feed and seed.
