Reviews by NYRIR

Pros: Great personalities!
Cons: Light red in color, poor DP birds
I love my (PR) RIR's . They are friendly birds, lay extremely well and the roosters are excellent flock protectors.I have several that are so friendly, they will not get out of your way!!

One big disappointment we had was when we butchered one for the first time. the breasts are not very big on the roos and the hens are really small.I am sure if you get yours from a breeder they will far surpass what mine did, but I wrote this since a lot of people get them from hatchery stock. We were new to chickens and did not know the difference between hatchery and breeder quality.

I do love my PR's and will probably always have some, but the breeder quality Reds seem to be a lot bigger and much deeper in color.
Hope this helps anyone looking for PR's...
OOPS...didn't see there was a review list for PR's...so this is in the wrong place.

Pros: Forage well, nice meat bird
Cons: Frostbite on combs
I currently have a flock of Dels. They always seem to be finding their way out of the yard to forage! They are good escape artists and lay wonderful brown eggs.
The breasts on them are much bigger than other DP birds we have used. The feathers are white so the carcass looks clean.
I did have an issue with frostbite on my roos due to the size of the comb, even though it was a mild winter here.My birds seem to stick to their own kind pretty much but have had no problems with the others.
The roo I have is fairly quiet and all the hens are quite laid back.
I like this breed.
Pros: Adorable
Cons: Feathers on feet get broken in winter
I don't currently have my little guys but man, I miss them! These are one of the cutest breeds I have seen! The trio I had were all nice little birds but had a tendency to try and roost outside.Other than that, they were great! I will be getting some in the future again I'm sure. Recommended!!

I have BJG's. They are nice chickens, lay a nice brown egg and I have one who was successful at hatching last fall. They are very docile and loving. Love 'em!

Pros: Cute birds
Cons: More "polish" looking
I have 2 AS from a hatchery. They are very, very friendly little birds. They lay well for me and seem to always be chattering to anybody and everybody.
My son wanted these last year and so we ordered 2 for fun. They have been just that...lots of fun! One of them always wants to roost on the porch for a couple of hours and be carried to the coop every night! I finally got her to where I can call her to the coop...lol...
Very Nice birds!

I Love my RSL and my BSL. They are excellent layers and have great personalities to boot! Hardy chickens with a beautiful set of feathers on both colors.
Highly recommended!

Pros: Colored eggs, colored chickens
Cons: Not a Breed
I like my EE's. They are all colors and have been called the "grab bag" chickens for good reason. I have had an egg eating issue with one of mine but I can't blame it on her being an EE.I have hatchery EE's and the egg colors are not really brilliant, but still pretty!
EE's are fun, friendly and easy going from my experience. I think it's a great chicken to buy for kids and adults alike!

I absolutely love the NH. Right from when we got them as chicks they were curious, friendly and energetic! We had more laughs watching them grow up

They do well in my large flock and seem to be good with other hens chicks.I have had no pecking issues with them or any health problems. My NH girls lay almost every day at 2 years old.
They are a lot of fun, I highly recommend this breed !!
