My two "golden girls" joined my flock a few months after I got into chickens. They're FANTASTIC layers of HUMUNGO brown eggs. Every day like clockwork, they lay early in the day and never have gone broody. They're very good layers. Eggcellent you might say! (HA!)
But they're also very nervous birds, a bit louder than my black australorps and nowhere near as friendly. They're not mean birds by any means, but they don't like being held. They run like the dickens and they fuss a lot when held. They squawk and try to escape constantly, making clipping wings a bear.
They're also not bad foragers but they're not great. They're very picky, but they love potatoes.
I'd suggest these birds as good layers to anyone. Just not your best snuggly backyard baby.
