GQF Still Air Hovabator

This is the basic version of the hovabator.
Pros: Simple to use
Cons: None/ if you are a seasoned user
Comparable to Farm Innovators and Little Giant 9300 hobby incubators. Simple, basic and a few minor adjustments and you are ready to go.
I recommend this incubator for the first time hatcher for a trouble free introduction into DYI incubation.
If you never incubated before, read the instructions.

Pros: Gets the job done. Had 80% hatches. Thick polystyrene walls are better than plastic walls.
Cons: Expensive for a rather crummy device. Thermostat unreliable. Takes a long time to manually tweek the temperature and make minor adjustments.
Machine has uneven air pockets. I was able to convert it into a fan forces by splicing a phone charger with a computer fan.
Pros: ... NOT MANY... BIG WINDOW AND EASY TO STORE
Cons: DIFFICULT, UNCLEAR
I bought this in hopes of hatching some chicks... so far no good. I think the thermostat isnt accurate because I either get chicks dying early in incubation or fried yolks!! It is very hard to control and out of 3 tries 0 sucess for me :( I would advise against it

Pros: Easy to use and set up, affordable
Cons: Still air
I received my first incubator in 2003 (I think) as a gift from my grandfather and it was a Hovabator still air. It's several years old, has hatched out many chicks and ducklings, but it still works just as well as it did the day I first set it up. But I mainly use it for lockdown now since getting a Hovabator 1588.

Pros: Reliable, Resonable, Small/Mid-sized 'Bator
Cons: Manual Thermostat, Must open to add humidity
I got this as a gift after being slightly used for christmas of 2001. It has seen alot of shelf time over these years but I love it. I added the turbo fan kit after a couple years of owning it and noticed that it goes through alot more humidity but I don't get the sticky, prolapsed chicks I was before. I have used the gqf universal/quail turner every time I've run it and gotten 80-90% hatches unless the eggs I set were no good. The thermostat finally went out in early spring of 2010 and that is only a $20 part. Overall I love this incubator and have had much better rusults that most people I know that run a little giant. I have no idea how old mine is because it dose not have the rounded corners of the current "generation" of hovabators. The only things I would change is put a digital thermostat with push button adjustment and a digital read out and a way to add humidity from the outside, but for the price compared to other models of similar capacity, I've seen, I can't complain.
