The plastic piece that holds the top wires together is not likely to survive your efforts to put it together. Once it has crumbled apart you can tape it together with the wires to make it functional after it has collapsed on your chicks a couple of times. Then there are the thumbscrews that work loose when the chicks get big enough to start jumping up on top of the plate. Another collapse like one of those balcony disasters and of course there was a chick underneath. Luckily when the others came sliding off it removed the weight and other than being terrified no harm was done. The worst danger is the way the wire frame comes down through the plate with just enough space to catch a baby by the foot or hock and once it starts screaming they all come piling off the plate and running around over the victim pulling on the leg even more. Not sure that one will survive even though I was right there to rescue it. Possible broken or dislocated hip with a splayed leg. Rubber tips for the legs were missing from the unopened box. This is going in the garbage where it belongs as I wouldn't trust it with chicks again. If I could give negative stars I would.
