The Chicken Encyclopedia: An Illustrated Reference

From addled to wind egg, crossed beak to zygote, the terminology of everything chicken is...
Pros: Easy to find everything, very informative.
Cons: Would've been more helpful with extra illustrations.
One of the first chicken books I received as a gift, it helped with the learning curve of keeping chickens.
Anybody can find something they need in just a few moments.
I learned many new things "chicken" after I read this.

Pros: Well illustrated
Cons: Short descriptions, but is concise.
What a handy book to have. The reader can quickly check on anything about chickens. There's lots of great information, and interesting things to read about. For instance, the "Trap Nest". I never heard of it, let alone, thought of such a contraption! But, I surely could have used one, on several occasions.

Talk about learning something new!

The photo illustrations showing all the different chicken breeds, is a good reason to get the book. I really recommend this book, especially for those new to chicken keeping.

Another great book by Gail Damerrow! :thumbsup

Dang it! Can't find much wrong with this book. It has just about everything there is to poultry terms. It's easy to read, many pictures and examples, and when the pictures of the birds came up they really represented their breed. Now all they need is an encyclopedia for ducks

Pros: Has EVERYTHING!
Gail Dammarow has done it again! Her other book, Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens, was a great, educational read. This is even better! Anything I could ever need or want to know, it's in there! It's fun and helpful. Hooray for The Chicken Encyclopedia! :ya
Pros: Lots of Info, Organized
This is by far the best chicken book I have read, and is written in encyclopedia format. It's highly organized with a ton of info for both the beginner and the expert. Most books are pretty basic and have the same info as other books, but this one had lots of new info. For instance, it actually has a chart showing what happens when you breed blue, black, and splash together. It has lots of other charts, too.
