@SwedishDude99... I don't know where you live but seeding some white clover this winter (that will come up in the spring) for your CX will really help. That stuff is like crack to CX! lol Also get them out free ranging by 3-4 weeks, the earlier the better. I'll also add that I got my CX from TSC...
Good luck on your project. I would turn mine out to free range then feed them when I put them back up. They will still come running to the feed bucket so getting them put back up has never been a problem. But you have to really hide the feed bucket to get them to go free range. lol
I have 12 CX I purchased on March 20th so they are about 23 weeks old. They are all still healthy with only a couple with a slight limp -but still moving fast. The majority of the time I have fed them fermented feed (2X/day only what they will clean up in a few minutes) and they got about 2...
I have 12 CX. One bird died the day I got them but TSC replaced the bird free of charge. One bird had some sort of leg problem as a chick and I thought seriously about culling it but in a little over a week the leg problem went away. The leg problem may have been a vitamin deficiency of some...
Personally, I wouldn't throw it out. I'd feed it to them. From what you say, it is fine. Just smells funny because of the meat in the feed. You can ferment about any feed or grain. You just have to be careful on the balance of the nutrients in your final mix (protein, vitamins, minerals, etc)...
I was just reading this post... I believe your feed is fine. The bubbling means that it has reached fermentation. I would feed it to them. They may hesitate on eating it at first but that won't last long at all. If they do hesitate you can sprinkle a little of their dry feed on top of it. Soon...
I wouldn't bother stirring after I mixed it up and I would just lay a clean dish rag or something like that over it. When I have kept mine in the house I didn't even cover it. That way it gets a lot of natural things from the air to start fermenting with. But when I keep it out in the garage I...
I make mine so thick that it is impossible to stir it after I make it and it soaks up the water, so I never stir after initially mixing it up. I have had mine smell like sweet apples, yeasty bread, "blahhh!", etc. lol It is really hard to mess up. You can learn all you need to know of the...
I have had five of them. Three were great and two were awful. The three would have been great service dogs. The two agressive ones were brother and sister, raised the exact same way as my other three. They wanted to bite everybody but my immediate family. I believe a BIG part of it is about...
