I see what you mean. She’s just really hard to photograph and it’s just the way she’s standing. Her tail isn’t as large in comparison to her body as the picture makes it seem. She’s just weird lol.
She lays medium brown eggs. Normal egg shape. She’s not being used for breeding so no worries there. None of our Jersey’s are. But she should start gaining weight since we’ve dewormed. I haven’t weighed her since we started deworming but all the ones I have weighed are gaining like crazy.
He acts completely normal. I’m not sure if he’d roost at night if I didn’t put him on there myself. All of the young ones only just started roosting recently. I help the ones that didn’t get the memo lol. He doesn’t seem injured. No obvious signs of pain. No illness. He walks perfectly fine. He...
Got her from a local guy. She’s not an Orpington. I wish she were. I love Orpingtons. But she doesn’t have the body shape for one. The original picture was her squatting to get a drink so she looks like one in that position. She’s quite tall and slender.
I’ll take some soon. Her comb is a little messed up, though. She’s missing feathers on her back and head too. Obviously was a favorite of her last rooster.
I got her from a local man downsizing his flock. I can get a picture of her feet later today. I think she brought in worms, which explains her lower weight. We recently dewormed and everyone is back to normal and gaining weight. But I don’t think she’s got another 5lbs of growth ahead of her.
I got this hen, Gretchen, about a month ago. She is almost 11 months old. We were told she’s a Jersey Giant. But she doesn’t look like our other two Jersey’s that we’ve raised from 3 days old. Gretchen is brown instead of black like my other two. She’s now smaller than my Cochin rooster who is 4...
Here’s an update! She is now 7 weeks old. Looks like a pullet to me except she’s now very red in the face and her legs are turning red as well. Thoughts now?
I just wanted to see if anyone else’s rooster does this, if it’s just his personality, or if there’s a potential problem with him. He is an SOP Standard Cochin, 14 weeks old. He is from a local breeder. He has done this since I got him at 8 weeks old. He’s a VERY calm rooster. If he didn’t look...
A litte update:
Today is day 3 of administering Toltrazuril. Along with that, I chose to deworm over the weekend. Deworming alone saved the Jersey’s life. I was concerned she wouldn’t make over the weekend, but the dewormer seemed to be exactly what she needed. She is almost back to her normal...
I don’t know if there’s much of a solution to this but I thought I’d give it a try. I recently brought home a new hen (Bernie). My other hen (Gretchen) HATES it when Bernie goes in the coop. Day one of Bernie trying to lay an egg, Gretchen immediately went in after her. She got on top of Bernie...
I ordered toltrazuril. It will arrive Monday. I found dosages but not how long I’m supposed to do it for. I saw in other posts where some people only administered it one time. The kind I’m getting is direct dose only. How often and how long should I give it to her?
