What Beautiful Birds you have created Kathy. Your Delaware recreation is so inspiring. I know this is years ago, but hoping your still working with Poultry.
Showing your progression with every crossing has been helpful and a great learning experience.
I'm at awe 😍
I bought BCM hatching eggs off eBay 2015 from a seller stating you could hatch white mutant Marans. Out of 2 dozen I only hatched 1 and it was a all White Cockerel.
Sadly I gave him away thinking he would mess up my BCM Line.
Yes I'm in a FB Group for hatching store bought eggs. Sadly can't find the Vital Farms Blue Egg's near me to try them. I've only found the Happy Eggs Heritage Blue Egg's in Clear Cartons, and the Julian Calendar numbers are usually 3 to 4 weeks old so I'd say they're too old to try and hatch...
A few of the Hatcheries sell Bantam EE's. Ideal Poultry , Cackle, Meyer, My Pet Chicken and Strombergs.
I have thought about getting some too. Little Robins eggs would be cute.
I did hatch a fibro EE pullet that's point of lay and still very small, mom is a Black Ameraucana and dad's are from...
I would agree Hendrix Genetics have always been a seller of super large quantities. I also have WTB from McMurray, bought them in April, mine all have pea type combs. Included a cockerel that had slow feathering so I knew right away I had a male.
I originally started raising Hatchery EE's 13 years ago, many of the hens had blue earlobes some with no muffs and beards and produced large blue eggs even through winter. I've loved breeds that are docile but predator weary. I like blue egg production breeds. My Ameraucanas lay a medium size...
Yes very formilar with Schijndelaar's,
Sage Acres Farm has them. She is using them x her extreme dark egg laying Marans to create dark olive eggers.
Sadly they have crest and very long tails, both characteristics I don't like. Hard to breed out those genetics. Azur are already bred with the...
Does anyone know where to purchase Azur Blue Egger chicks created by Hendrix Genetics?
Have seen some in the US that were purchased as Easter Eggers at TSC.
Gone to Hendrix website but can't find any being sold through at Hatchery's or Feed Stores.

What do your Silverudds Blue look like now?
Did you get any pullets to confirm egg color?
I wanted to order some from them but have heard their SB's have issues and some lay Tinted Eggs 😔
Where are you seeing the Artic Blue's on Ideal Poultry?
I just checked Ideal Poultry website and it still doesn't show them.
They show Easter Eggers, Olive Eggers, Blue Olive Eggers and Legbars.
She is very pretty, as Blue Stars are a Hatchery Hybrid cross using Splash Andalusian males (White Eggers) x Barred Plymouth Rock Hens (Brown Eggers)
(= Tinted Eggers)
Males will hatch with a dot on the head females will be solid. Hybrids will lay more than parent stock.
The pullets will look...
Welcome to byc Joenesse 👋

Ideal Poultry states on their website, Blue Australorps lay 240 eggs per year and Black Australorps lay 260 eggs per year.
Not sure why they would lay differently.
Do you think Hatcheries should use methods to kill off unhatched Cockerels during Incubation, leaving only Pullets to sell as day old chicks?
I have read different articles about methods now being used to determine Cockerels verse Pullet chicks during the hatching process.

I might do a thread on this subject with a poll to see what others think about the industry only hatching and selling pullets.
Good for the Industry. Bad for the ones wanting to breed and hatch their own.
