One of our little chicks (5 weeks old) is so tiny compared to the others but we just noticed only 1 eye has opened. It eats, drinks & scratches around happily however it is super noisy & it's new feathers are falling out....any suggestions?
Well, it's a Silver Laced Wyandotte. Is it supposed to be the same age as the others? It might have hatched from a pullet's egg, which are smaller than an adult hen's eggs are, thus hatching out a smaller than average chick that will eventually catch up in size. Or it be something genetic and...
I guess you are right...they could have been day olds when we got them and sold under the pretence they were older!
It's from a breeder - I'll have to check if she breeds Marans (I don't think she does)!
We don't want them for breeding/showing, just pets so it's no big issue. We just at hope...
