We wound up taking her to a vet and an X-ray showed a small amount of rocks in the abdomen. The doctor said after 3-5 days she should've been better after putting her on a laxative, pain killer and a food supplement but she still showed no progress. We were pescribed an antibiotic for her since...
She still won't eat and she's lost a considerable amount of weight :/ no water no food nothing, and she's incredibly difficult to force feed. She wants to eat though we can all tell I just don't know what else to try out and I'm very nervous at this point. She wants to eat the grass in the yard...
I think my Ameraucana has something caught in her throat but not necessarily her crop. She's about 3 and is a single house chicken. The last 5 days or so her diet has been very minimal, she drank water the Saturday yesterday and today and had some yogurt last night and some wet bread this...
Yeah we're going to take her to a vet tomorrow afternoon, though I don't know how much the doctors will know about chickens. On the plus side she ate some dinner earlier.
Yeah it's pretty squishy I guess and I don't even feel an egg either. However last time she was egg bound I didn't feel it so it's just hard to tell :/
My 2 1/2 year old ameraucana may be egg bound again (at least that what I think it is) as of Monday afternoonish. She's been walking aimlessly in the yard sitting or just standing anywhere she likes with her eyes closed. Yesterday and Today I was able to get her to eat some tums, and then some...
I did that a few hours ago for about an hour and she just stood in one place the whole time.. She's our only pet and I really hope she pulls through this :(

Well the only good news I can say is despite the fact she's showing a lot of symptoms of the egg bound and the eyp, she's still acting somewhat like herself. She's cleaning and grooming herself a lot, her comb and wattles are not pale at all but in fact bright red, and she isn't puking or...
Sooo this same bird is egg bound again (at least that what I think it is) as of Monday afternoonish. She's been walking aimlessly in the yard sitting or just standing anywhere she likes with her eyes closed. Yesterday and Today I was able to get her to eat some tums, and then some calcium pills...

Me too lol I was so scared for her. I'm definitely going to make sure she has enough calcium in her diet from now on :) I also have one of those chicken guides for dummies and I think ill read that too.
Well the good news is she did lay the egg and she seems to be fine.. Yeah yesterday some yellow diarrhea came out but I'm wondering if that was the vase, one I put in the there and it just leaked out. I read somewhere that egg peritonitis would mean the eggs come out with diarrhea veins running...
Just have her some preparation h in and around her vent. She's been nesting for about an hour so far and if she doesn't get it out ill give her some manual contractions and then the Epsom salt bath.
I was thinking about preparation h and ill try that next if she leaves the box again without laying. I went inside last night and I felt what I think is the egg and it was more than an inch in, assuming it was the egg. I just went in again less than an inch and I didn't feel anything. Epsom...
