Insist ? not be naïve, but how do I insist ? I have begun to use a small twig to gently tap rear end as she is using her snout to climb my leg. Seems to work . were also just keeping great distance b/n the pig and my daughter. Seems to be working well. Only a few more days longer than the vet...
Just got a new friend. Has worked out well, but she has gone in heat and has become very aggressive towards me and my daughter( 2 years old ) Nothing dangerous, but Popcorn ( the pig ) is using her snout to root around on her and my legs trying to climb up my leg. But overly powefful for my...
Their bills and much more dark ( the "crested ones") . is there a tail tail sign for the crested ducklings verse the bad genetic ducklings that we can tell apart at this age?
Thank you this is our second round or attempt at ducklings. The first didn't go over so well. Both died, one by seizures and the other by cold (I think). Anyhow. I hope our luck is better this time.
Dunno what kind these are. We thought Peking, but seems we were mislead .
Two seem to have the "crest" I have read about and the others we have no idea what kind of ducklings these are.
Hello again all, its been awhile but we are still clucking along here in Schluersburg MO.
We have recently added to our flock and are having a bit of trouble figuring out exactly what we have added. We were told all Peking Ducklings, but the Mohawk like hair on top of two of the ducklings has us...
Back into the swing of things. Its been awhile and many yard birds later we have a very established flock both in the Chicken coop and in our home. We have added two children and at the sweet number of 14 yard birds. We tried to get a head start on added to our flock this year, but to no avail...
...Booster-the-Rooster (RIP Ol boy) , but now ...
The new King of the Roost has taken a demanding anger towards me. I cannot turn my back w/o that ****** yard bird attacking me. He even fights face to beak. He stalks me when I am retrieving eggs walking by the run and even catching eye contact...
Smallest egg ever ... Funniest thing in have seen since beginning this whole farming of yard birds started. I know its a chicken egg as the coop was in 'lock down' mode before I came into retrieve new eggs.
How rare is this. Only one silkie hen ... Is it her egg ?
Up to 6 chicks now with 2 more 'pipping' . I think that's what it is called when they crack open the shell but not outside totally yet. Already holding another set of 41 eggs for our next run at it.

Sorry form size. I don't know how big this will post from tablet. I just saw this thread and had the same \question ... Please assist in process now . thnx
We use ground peppers, nothing too spicy. Soranos and jalapeños
We found a local farmer and got all his old peppers that were going bad.
Dried them out and ground them up not too fine. Loosely chopped, I guess
Mix them with a separate mix of scratch and layer crumbles. About 2 cups and the...
Oddly we have added another Roo ton the mix, we have 23 total with 3 Roos . they have seemed to find their pecking order. The only fighting is when Clyde or Cornelous is mounting a favorite hen of Boosters. He doesn't seem to mind the others getting it on.

I think Cherise is a Too. Not for sure, but he/she has a beard looking feathers. The other two Polish hens don't have that .

We have recently had a cat visiting our yard. We came outside and saw the cat hanging out with the chickens and not bothering them at all. Will this cat help keep other predators away from our chickens?

I am trying to find a bird similar to Ripple, but cannot find her in other threads. Hoping to know that breed over the others. Her colors are all over the place. She has blue, gray, silver, maroon, blue. She has to be one the prettiest ones I think.
