I agree that another necropsy would be helpful.
I had 4 necropsied to make SURE that everything was caught. and only 2 of the 4 actually had the underlying issue/disease. The other 2 showed the same symptoms but had a less dramatic underlying issue.
wow! those zulu chickens need their own thread! they are amazing! they remind me of Aseel here in the US.
She doesn't look sick, but she could still be a carrier. so No Thanks, not gonna risk my few girls I have.
no worries :) I have been going through some challenges myself, and I TOTALLY get the stress. I am glad it looks like you have figured out the source...this summer has been pretty brutal to a lot of chicken peeps.
sorry-I wasnt accusing you of starving your birds. I apologize if it came across that way. It is possible though that this guy was being blocked from feed maybe by a bigger bird?
sounds to me like they are saying that something was wrong with the feed-either not enough or it was bad, and that the cocci, while present, wasnt the source of death. The feed or lack of it was. So get new feed, and your birds will be fine. ANd discontinue all medications except the sulmet. He...

Another update...a family dollar was erected since she started sitting her eggs, so now she has to pass through a...
I have about 25 birds, and I am moving in a month where I can't take them. I had some sick birds, that I eventually sent for necropsies. Out of the 4, one possibly had MG and I am waiting for the final results.
If this is positive, what do I do? From my research, it seems like MG is actually...
hi ameraucana friends!
I wanted to swing by and find out if anyone has or will have Wheaten or blue wheaten hatching eggs next month or so. I have heard far too many horror stories about ebay eggs, and I can't seem to find much in my area when it comes to this color, so I figure I probably...

But seriously, you get sick when you go to lakeland? That is very interesting.
Thanks for the well wishes-it's hard to know what to do when you have some people who are telling you to medicate medicate medicate and others telling you to cull cull cull.

As...
I am good friends with the renters and the they called me today to tell me a cat was IN the fountain with the eggs and mama was on the ground clucking at it. She shooed the cat away...she is a very savvy hen though. I know her babies will be ok. I just dont knoe if she is going to let us near...
ship him my way please!!!!
I like #1 too. There was some discussion here last month about a holy grail rooster...I think it looked just like #1. I was going to tell you to keep them both, longer, but don't get rid of #1 unless you are shipping him to me :)
The neighbors whom i assume own the chickens (since the chickens are mostly in that acreage) are jot renting from my parents. The neighbors who have the broody in the front yard are renting from my parents.so they are the ones who CALLED me to come get her since they know i have chickens. They...
This is a fascinating discourse. Tbh in the past i would have treated it like a wild animal pand just gi en it water and kept away. Now that i love my own chickies i am much more concerned and conscientious.
The suggestiin about checking livestock rules was a great post. But i feel conflicted...
