Have your chickens had time to acclimate to those temps? I don't worry here about cold temps. Mine got by last year with those below 20 temps that we rarely have and they were in a prefab and no heat.
Very pretty.
The ducks were out in the yard, the chickens weren't. Ducks listen, chickens don't. Well they do, but it's harder to wrangle the chickens up when they are having fun so I only let them out in the yard closer to evening. I didn't let anyone out this evening though.
Yes. It was very cold this morning.
I need to take my phone out more. This morning one of the duck's feathers that somehow is sticking straight up from the ground was dusted with frost and with the morning sun on it, it was so pretty. However, I had a lot to do and I decided to forgo running in...
I just saw your post in the scavenger hunt. I picked up these two EEs Wed. The person I got them from didn't know what breed they were. Called the black one "ugly" and thought the other was a cream legbar. :gig
When I got a hold of the black one (who might be either Matilda or Willow haven't...
So sweet. Boomer had a soft molt, but other than that nothing major. My Brahma is in full molt though and she waits until he is busy in the morning to come down from the roost. She's been waiting until I come out I think, because I distract him enough not to bother her. Or at least that is what...
He's doing fine. It has been raining for two days. I went out to do the evening chores and they still had plenty of daylight left. It was a little bit darker looking though. He had all the hens in the coop tucked in and roosting.
He probably still needs to mature though as his breeding manners...
My Brahma molted in the dead of winter last year up through February. She lost a lot and was in a prefab coop set up. She fared well. It does look like Tessa has a lot more feather loss though. Poor thing. I think there is a molting contest thread. Tessa might have a chance to win that. :p
Oh, I don't know what I was looking at then for a show in the spring. Lol
I think dog's quicks are similar. Because if you let them over grow, the quick will be longer too. However, each time you trim the quick shrinks. Eventually with consistent trims, you can get the dog's nails back to where...
