    Sizzle vs Silkie

As far as egg laying, silkies and sizzles lay about the same size egs and lay the same amount. Our polish is our best layer. She lays surprisingly large eggs and about 5 times a week.

    Sizzle vs Silkie

Right now we only have the silkies, sizzles, and polish. But we have had standard chickens with them before and they do fine together.

What color are these silkies I just hatched?

Just had these silkies hatch today. Curious if anyone knew how to tell color at such a young age. They came out of buff, blue, black, and white silkies all mixed in one pen... I think i have 3 splash, 2 white and 2 buff. here are pictures of a few. I thought this guy was blue at first, but...

    Sizzle vs Silkie

We LOVE our Silkies and Sizzles. I say get both. I do have to say, the Silkies aren't very smart, can't fly, can't see very good, and aren't very good layers. But, they are the nicest birds we have and they are so funny to watch. The sizzles are a little bit smarter, still not the best layers...

    What Sex/Colors are these Sizzles?

Just got these 3 Sizzles yesterday. I couldn't turn them down because of the patterns that these things had. I picked the three that appeared to be less of a rooster than the others. That was just judging by combs. The ones i got don't have any sign of a comb and most of the others did have...

    Sizzle gender?

Update: The blue one turned out to be a hen. She laid her first egg today and has turned out to be one of my best looking chickens (I'll try to get some updated pictures today). The partridge one, (although he isn't really partridge, I don't know what else to call him) I'm almost certain is a...

    Gold lacced Polish project

Yeah, I was a little upset when she feathered out and was not laced. But slowly she became more laced instead of spangled. We are still waiting for her tail feathers to become laced.

    Polish/Silkie Cross

Hello all! Now that my Gold Laced Polish hen is finally laying, I am planning on breeding her with my Buff Silkie rooster. What can I expect the chicks coloring to look like? Is there any chance of keeping the lacing? Color genetics confuse the mess out of me. Here they are.

    Half smooth half silkied?

I had one polish chick that did this same thing, she never grew. AT ALL she lived about 6 weeks and was getting her feathers in like all the others but remained the same size as when she hatched.

    Gold lacced Polish project

I believe Its a gold laced, mine looked just like this when she was younger. The lacing grew in gradually. Mine even had the solid black crest like this. Here she is before and now.

No oyster shells, but there are golf balls in the nest boxes. I've had chickens all my life and never came across this problem. We need help!

    Egg Eaters!

Today we went to check for eggs and found an egg that had been eaten and we are so worried that this habit will spread throughout the coop. This was our Polish Hens 2nd egg. We aren't sure if it was her that ate the egg or not. We are curious if this is a more common habit for certain breed...
