Ok, so I have a 7.5 week old Pekin that is about 3/4 feathered and today out of the blue couldn't stand, would fall over, then not be able to right itself. It is eating and drinking well, is on a grower feed, and I add vitamins in their water daily.
Has anyone seen this? No other birds seem to...
Ok, for those of you out there that have a farm innovators Pro 4200, what do you find is the best way to run this incubator? I am about to use it for the first time so would like to know its pros? cons? how have you had the most success with it?
TIA!
First one pipped this morning... Unfortunately it was at the wrong end and he hit a blood vessel... :( not a great start. Hoping some others will pip soon. It is a compromised clutch, we had painters painting the house, and they unplugged the extension chord for the incubator. I only had about 8...
I kept the humidity around 45 for days 1-18 and then increased to 65-75. The one that hatched, the membranes didn't seem to be too dry and hatched about 18 hours after the first pip. The two that were deformed never drew in the GI tract, although it seemed like the yolk was absorbed? The other...
Here is my solo chick from my first hatch. Pipped at the wrong end, but made it out unassisted. The other 5 in with her were deformed or all in the wrong positions, so not sure with what happened to this hatch. Temps and humidity seemed great from all the reading, no power outages or huge...
I had 5 eggs in the incubator, one pipped on day 20 and hatched early in the morning on day 21 totally unassisted. One was a dud, and 3 are still left on day23. No pips in their shells, floated on the float test but no movement. Humidity has been good, temp constant, the one chick hatched...
ok... So the gal that I get my eggs from had a batch a week early as the other person had backed out of a sale. I went and picked them up thinking I could just let them sit and store for a week before I could plop them into the incubator. I got home and wanted to candle them for cracks etc. and...
Here is a photo from this evening. I always appreciate the advice as I continue to learn! :)
I also did "eggtopsies" on the three blood rings and all 3 were blood rings and non viable.
well, after looking at it this afternoon, I think it may be a fetal demise. The blood vessels are not as apparent and it is not moving. :( Humidity and temperature are still consistent and other eggs seem to be ok.
Thank you everyone for the help!! This is truly an amazing resource! I have another egg question... This egg seems to have two black spots... Normal? The others don't seem to...
Thanks! I was trying to figure out the same also. I wanted to disturb them as little as possible. Next candling is day 10. I will ensure the quitters are truly quitters.
Here is a picture that I was quite pleased with! I love to see them growing, fingers crossed!
