    Silkied Ameraucana Project

Just thought that I would chime in since folks were talking about where had all the project people gone. I am here in Oregon. I had split birds from Renee' and got some split and silkied from a local lady that was no longer interested in the project(her birds were from Alice fell down). I have...

    Silkied Ameraucana Project

Wolftracks, if your parent birds are all splits then the offspring will be Silkied, Splits and Smooths. The problem is you have to grow out the smooths and test breed them to see if they are split or just smooth. Takes time and more time if you dont have a Silkied bird of the opposite gender to...

    Silkie Feathered Ameraucanas adventure

DragonEggs, I know that ChooksChick, in Lawrence KS, has eggs available and mails them. I believe there is someone in some part of TX that also has them. If you are really looking for them, I would go to the "What's wrong with their feathers?" thread and ask there. This thread has been pretty...

    Bantam Cochin, what gender?

Hello, My first two hatches are now 6-8 weeks old. I hatched four Bantam Cochins in the bunch. I am certain three are cockerels, they are reddening in the wattles and comb and walk tall and more up right. I had all four pegged as cockerels, but now this one is markedly different. It walks lower...

    Mille Cochin Info

Hello all, I have been reading along on both the Mille and the Calico threads, but havent really had much to say. I do have some pullets that are sort of MF, but they are not really patterned correctly and a couple arent the right colors. I love them though, they are sweet and pretty. I have...

    What's wrong with their feathers?

LBKS, I am not sure where she is with this project. It can be pretty rough sometimes, as some of these birds just drop dead for no apparent reason(probably genetic) so people's numbers and projects change. Anyway, what I was going to say is that ChooksChick is in Lawrence Kansas and she had...

    Crafters- What are you making???

itsmechrissy, those are a great shower, etc., gift idea! I think I would have to go with the scented oil idea, as here in Western Oregon we usually have a problem with mold and mildew from things being too moist! Not usually the brown sugar as it tends to clump from the moisture, but is gone...

The 4th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long

I am probably too late, but we are hatching eggs. I was able to get into the house and put them in the incubator(its already set up and ready) at noon pacific. We were shearing today, so there hasnt been much time for getting on the list. I put in 23 eggs for the Easter hatch along, quite a few...

    What's wrong with their feathers?

I am pretty sure ChooksChick is NPIP. Dont know if she ships internationally, but she is great to deal with! She is where I got some of my Silkied Ameraucana Project eggs/birds.

    Cochin Thread!!!

Hi all. Well our eggs are starting to hatch here. Our first egg to hatch was a cochin, unfortunately the egg was collected by someone less obsessed than I with who it came from. LOL, she wrote "Orp or Cochin" on it at least(not that we have any other breed that lays fertile eggs the same color)...

    Oregon

I know folks have probably answered this before, but I have a terrible time finding things through searches so I thought I would just go ahead and ask. For those folks hatching chicks what, if any, immunizations do you give? When? and are they injectibles, if so where do you give them? LOL...

    Silkie Feathered Ameraucanas adventure

Fancyfeathers38- I think you would have a 25% chance for each chick to be smooth Ameraucana, 25% chance for each to be Silkied Ameraucana and 50% chance to be Ameraucana split to Silkied(visually smooth).

~Chickielady- I love my Chantecler roosters! I just need some girls for them! Any ideas where I can get some. I know John Blehm has them but I really dont want to have to get the other birds to go with them that would make an order. My two boys are from the only two Chantecler eggs that hatched...

    Oregon

I have a dog out of some folks that only had one or two litters, a male name Niko. We have one rescue out of California, her name is Maggie. And the rest are out of Aden and Windridge Farms lines. All purebred. I attempted to do some rescue with Catahoula rescue but at the time there werent any...

    Oregon

Yes, we have Catahoulas. You ask that like you know what they are, lol, which is, in and of itself, a very amazing thing! Usually when I mention them folks say, " A cata-what?". We have had them for almost ten years. They are amazing!

I live out between Lebanon and Stayton. About 2 years ago- My neighbor, about 1-2 miles away, came out of her house and there was a young male bobcat walking in her driveway. The chickens were out and so she put down the stuff she was carrying to the car and went and put them up. Her dog was...

Izzy is definitely a Rooster! So he is now Isador. He is not an Isabel, but is split for it. This is a picture of him at about 5 months in this picture. He is still maturing.

Surprise! What type of chicken did we hatch?

This is Libra at about 4 months old. He is the Silkie x South American composite that came to my house. This is Lavender at 5 months. It was taken the beginning of Sept. She has started laying and her eggs are a dark green. I will try to get a pic of one of her eggs when I can.
