I am trying to find some temporary fencing (the easy to move stuff) without the electrical wires running through. Just wanting something for controlled free ranging, but I don't want the expense of on electrified fence. My chickens have been free ranging for years on our 5 acres and I need to...
I made one of them for each of my chicken tractors (5). I made this one first and then made 4 others using the bucket as a form, because I only had 2 buckets. The bucket is one of those 5 gallon plastic buckets that plants are potted in at nurseries. In the pens, I put a square of the double...
I live in central Mississippi, so winters are fairly mild. We do however get a few teen nights. I have 2 open air coops and 2 closed coops for my big chickens.
I also have my banties in an open air coop. How much cold can the banties handle? Oh, one is a silkie, so I need to know if they are ok...
I never read anything before getting ducks about how they can destroy a garden. I read how chickens will do it but NOT ducks. What is wrong with mine? I found them eating bell peppers this morning. My chickens haven't bothered anything but the ground cherries. The ducks have hit every row in the...
I have 4 pair of 9 month old Blue Swedish ducks for sale at $20 a pair. These are black and blue Blue Swedes, as you can see in the pictures.
There are also 3 Rouen hens and 1 Rouen drake in the picture that are not for sale. Can not ship.
I am in Madison, Mississippi.
Thanks,
Teri
This was my first time ever time to hatch eggs, so I used some of my own. I put 3 BO and 3 EE eggs in a 25 year old hova bator on Jan. 25th around 3pm. The chicks started hatching completely out on Saturday Feb. 14 around 4pm. That is exactly the 20 days. The last of the 6 hatched 24 hours later...
I had 6 eggs in bator to hatch yesterday or today. Well 5 hatched yesterday and the last one has been peeping inside the shell since yesterday but hasn't pipped. I am worried that he is going to run out of air and die. Should I make a small crack somewhere to get him started?
I have 6 eggs in the bator on day 18. I have no idea how many will hatch since this is my first time. Not wanting to buy 25# of chick starter and end up with no chicks, I was wondering if anyone has made a substitute feed for a day or two before buying some chick starter? Also, what did you use...

This isn't mine, I just saw it listed and thought I would pass it along to anyone who might be interested.
I found these 2 eggs this morning in the BO's coop. We already made peanut butter cookies and ginger snap cookies with them.
They were perfect on the inside.

at temps down to 34 or 32? They have been ok for the past 3 nights with temps down to the low 40's. I read that they should be at about 65 degrees right now and they can go outside at 7 weeks. They have hay and 3 sided shelter blocking the north wind and open to the south. Also, there are only 4...
I received my 20 ducklings and 4 guinea keets yesterday. They are eating non-medicated chick starter. I have been crushing Brewer's yeast tablets and putting in the food, but I don't know how many tablets to how much food. For those of you who have used the tablets, can you answer this question...

These are 6 x 12 with about a 30 inch by 6 ft coop on the back. In one, I have 5 Buff Orpingtons (15 weeks) and the other has 7 EE's (11 weeks) and 4 guineas (5 weeks). I hope to build another pen for the guineas this weekend as one of them is causing problems for one of the chickens.

Hi all,
I am new to chickens and I have 2 breeds (Auracanas and Buff Orpingtons). The A's are 9 -10 weeks and Buffs are 13- 14 weeks. They have separate chicken tractors and coops. Inside both coops I put natural branches at various heights. The Buffs go in at night but roost in the doorway on...
