    First Nankin egg

Even though she was supposed to be a red star, I like this little pullet and she laid her first egg today. As long as she doesn't go broody on me, we'll remain good buds. Lol

    First EE egg

So, I got an EE for 2.99 at the feed store and she's laying at 22 weeks. First egg today! I also procured a beautiful Blue Ameraucana pullet to make sure I got pretty blue eggs. She's older and has been laying for a few weeks. Guess who's egg is whos.... Thank god for cheap EE's. What great...

    New pullet not eating..

Picked up a 16 wk old blue Ameraucana yesterday afternoon. She looks large and healthy but she hasn't taken a bite of food since I brought her home. Won't eat scratch or even a live mealworm! Going to try some eggs tomorrow. First time bringing home a grown pullet. This normal?

    Blue Ameraucana or EE?

Think it's probably and EE but sold as unsure. Had to buy because it was so pretty.

    Another soft shell thread..

My situation didn't match any recent finds. Introduced 3 pullets to my two 28 month old hens (not going well, #2 in line is a terror). My BSL just laid her first soft shell as I was watching them interact with the pullets in the coop for the first time. I changed feed to starter grower...

    Single bantam?

I think I was given a bantam BO with my two other chicks. I plan on intregrating them with my other two hens in a couple weeks. Will she be picked on since she'll be half the size of the other birds? The other two chicks already kind of gang up on her. But she is the smartest, sweetest, and...

Changing out cockerel for a pullet

Id really like 3 pullets to add to my two hens. Got what I was told are three chicks all said to be pullet. The barred rock is starting to give me pause. They are two weeks old. Question is, if he is a he at what point is too late to switch him out without making the new one an outcast? Will...

    One more. Red sex link

I know females red and males white. This one is supposed to be female, but it's more tan. Male or female? Less than a week old.

    Sex this barred rock.

Got this one this am. Supposed to be all pullets. Pure yellow legs and erect stance makes me think cockerel. Know it's early, but really want three pullets, not two. Thx

    Hen picking on coopmate

I had three hens and lost one and now have two. My BSL has always been a litttle aggressive and my speckled Sussex a pushover. Lately (especially the last couple days) the BSL has removed pretty much all of the feathers off he back of my poor Sussex. They've been alone in the coop for months...

    What are these?

Hundreds in my carport. Wondering if I could feed to my hens. Crawl pretty fast!

    One last shot...

Anyone know for sure what breed this is?

    3 pullets

My first night with my three pullets. I just checked in them and instead of climbing the ladder to roost in the coop, they are huddled on the ground. They've been in a box with a small roost since birth so at what point do I need to show them what to do? Will they figure it out on their own...

    3 new pullets

Was given these three by a friend. He said he paid extra for guaranteed hens. Hoping for that outcome. Can anyone tell the breed or guess at the sex?

    Incredibly simple 4x4 copp

Limited on time. I have an area about 4x4 walled on 2 sides. I want the absolutely most simple coop design I can find to accommodate 2 hens. Anyone have any pics or ideas.

Wish I read this Forum before I got chickens...

It took me a few months but after a good amount of money and labor, I finished a small coop for my mother for her mother's day gift. Mini verison of her board an batten piling house.. She celebrated by purchasing 2 Buffs with my little nephew and niece. After only 2 nights she's fended off 1...

New to the forum and need guidance!

I grew up with chickens. We bought some property and it came with chickens, an old coop, and some boxes for them to lay eggs inside. It was a rural(ish) area and they just ran around free range. we gave them all away when the area grew urban and business expanded. Flash forward 30 yrs. I...
