A few days ago my friend gave me her chicken (I think a Silver Laced Orpington) after her other chicken got killed by an opossum. It was shy and kind of hid for a couple of days and yesterday I noticed it was limping. I checked her foot and there is a sore on the pad and it is swollen. I am...

    Brooder Box outside?

Hi, I am doing my 2nd hatch and was wondering if anyone puts their brooder box outside? Mine has a latch I can lock it with but we do have raccoons, opossums and cats in the area. Barred Plymouth Rock Rooster-Pasadena, CA

We are not allowed to have roosters so we need to find him a good home. We live near Pasadena, CA. He is a little skittish but not aggressive. He was born around Jan. 1st, so he is about 8 weeks old and has not started crowing yet.

Are adults calmer and more friendly than chicks?

We have 8 chickens (2 roosters and 6 hens). They are about 7 weeks. We have Rhode Island Reds and Barred Plymouth Rocks. They run away from us like crazy. Will they get less freaked out by us as they get older? Thanks!

    2 day old chick clumsy

Hi, I have had 8 chicks hatch and one of them is really clumsy. It is moving its head from side to side and then falls over. Has anyone had this problem or know what it is? I gave it water through a dropper worried it was dehydrated but have done nothing else. THANK YOU!

    First hatch! Humidity high

Hi. So I am lying in bed and heard so much chirping it woke me! Yay! Question. The humidity jumped to 85. Is that normal? The chick I saw is still wet so I don't want to open it to let out some humidity but can it dry off with that much? Thank you!

am wondering if anyone has put a drop in an incubator to kill bacteria when eggs are hatching. This is my first hatch and I didn't know how crazy careful with germs you had to be and now I am nervous. Thanks!
