    Out of 21 hens...they all quit laying at once???

    We jsut experienced a very extreme cold spell....egg production dropped each day till there are NO eggs in the nest today ?!!!     Well.....todays butchering job did not go well. Please help!

    I really botched up today butching one of my poor roos. My cone was too small, so I tried to remove his head quickly with my sharp knife....BUT, I could not cut thru the feathers on his neck !!! I felt like he was suffering so badly and I felt terrible, as I was literally sawing at his neck...

    Bared back hens? Too many roos??

    I have 5 Dominicker hens along with 15 other assorted hens and 3 roosters. All my dominickers are getting bald spots on their back sides ...does this mean I have too many roos riding the hens?? The dom rooster seems to only mate with the dom hens so they are getting quite a workout from him each...

    I butchered my first bird awhile back ...a roo...very lean meat. Yesterday I had to cull an injured hen and when I did I found her to be full of fat!! It was bright yellow fat and all thru her body. I removed it as best I could, but wondered if this is normal ? Does this mean I feed my girls...

    Is oyster shell the same as grit? I am confused?

    Green Egg at last!!! YAH!
