Can anyone tell me at what age can you mix chicks and older chickens without them being killed or injured. Should i place them in a cage in the coop first so that they can get used to each other?
I live in Beverley England. One more question-i let all the chickens out each day to roam in my field so the 2 hens come into contact with all the cockerels, but at mo the 2 hens stick with the cockerel they live with who is older and bigger. Will the cockerels start to fight in the open field...
Thanks for replies. I will keep them separate, it would just have been easy to have all 8 birds togerther-6 cockerels & 2 hens. I know i dont need all the cockerels, what do people do with all their excess 'boys'...i cant kill them! Can i post them to you in America?
I have 5 cockerels in one coop and one cockerel with 2 hens in another. I want to put them all together. Will the one cockerel currently on own fight the others when mixed together?
Have a new incubator and have 8 eggs but weather is very cold here in england and i collect the eggs at 1C before placing in the incubator...is this too cold? I let them reach room temp before placing in incubator, but they will have spent a day at 1C. (33F)
