I hope so, it’s been raining here almost nonstop the last week perhaps that’s what’s getting them dirty. Thanks

    Should I be concerned

My leghorns have been exhibiting black spots on their feathers underside and around legs. Is this a sign of something wrong?

Best I could do on short notice with materials on hand. I put this over the dryer vent put their feed bucket near the opening, heavy skillet and jug of water for a makeshift waterer. Do you think they will move over from behind the trash cans? I made sure they know it exists.

    Hens laying in yard

Found my hens have been laying in the yard under a mimosa tree. I will get rid of those as I don’t know how old they are and they are not fertile (no rooster) thinking of confining to the small run (usually have run of large fenced yard) for a week or so. Will this re-train them to use the nest...

    Hen won’t leave roost/leave coop

Update: it seems that she is back on the roost. I set up some blocks in the nest box and I guess she’d rather get on the bar than sleep on the floor at this point. I will be redoing the roosting bar though as I know they will prefer a round rod to the 2x2 they have now. Thanks for the help.

    Hen won’t leave roost/leave coop

I wouldn’t mind sleeping in the nest box, but as you know, the first thing they do is poop. Then I get dirty eggs. So that’s the issue I have with that.

    Hen won’t leave roost/leave coop

I have pine shavings but the guy who built this thing used slats leaving openings that the saw dust just goes through. I will be scraping the floor down and putting down cardboard and shavings soon.

    Hen won’t leave roost/leave coop

It seems hunger has forced her out and nobody is chasing her off, but still concerns me. Two will roost on each end leaving about 18” in the middle, so I don’t think they are crowded

    Hen won’t leave roost/leave coop

I have recently added two hens to my flock. They seem to have integrated well for the 3-4 weeks. A couple of days ago I found one of the new hens sleeping in the nesting box. I chased her out and blocked it for the night, she just slept on the floor. This morning I see her pacing on the...

    Help please

He's eating OK as far as I can tell ( don't know if he would oblige a request to "Open wide and say ahh, but I will keep an eye out) the Rooster I had before, had this and so did one or two of the hens and it did go away, so hopefully the same will happen now. Thanks.

    Help please

Can anyone identify what is going on with my Rooster here? I have seen fly bites before and I do have an inordinate of flies (soon to be under control, I hope) but this looks different to me. Please let me know what this might be and how i might address it. Thanks.

    Thank you to BYC

Are there more to hatch? Yes, but not right now, I need to get through the molt and heat so my two hens can lay me at least four eggs in the same week. Then I'll give it another go.
