Out of the 8 eggs that hatched it looks like we have one ancona bantam rooster (he is crowing already - well trying!), 2 white cross breeds (breeder calls them heritage long lays), 2x Browns, an Easter egger and a d'uccle. Quite a mixed bunch! Pretty sure we have only one or maybe two roosters...
Yes she is very healthy! More than that, I think she is hoping to be top of the pecking order :-) Although she is still pretty calm, and doesn't seem to mind a cuddle.
Hi all chicksperts,
We recently (about 4-5 months ago) hatched 2 x ISA browns from eggs. One is very brown and I assume is a hen, the other has quite a lot of white on it, and I am curious as to whether it may be a roo.
Any guidance would be appreciated! Photos to follow.....
Had to save photos to dropbox then get onto laptop - but at least I can upload some photos now! Here is a pic of our mystery chick - pretty sure she is a d'uccle.
I know. Sorry! Trying to work out how to upload from phone. Am even emailing to iPad to see if that works. It is a new windows phone - still trying to work it out myself :-)
Just about 3 months old. I was sure the ancona bantam was the rooster, but now, on second looks,I think it may well be the our australorp? One of them is! as we have recently heard some crowing!
A more recent photo, with our second 'brood'.
Ignore the heater - our heat lamp died, so this a temp (and not recommended) solution while we wait for stores to open!
Seeing as I spent so long looking through others photos and getting some great ideas, I thought it only fair to load some pics of the brooder we made, in case it inspires someone else :-)
We used an old pine bookcase that had just been replaced by some shelving. We knocked out the individual...
