Always looking for something new for the girls. Found suet cakes on sale at tractor supply. Hung two of them in the run and they love them! Once a week in the winter should be good. Need the extra fat.
They are great! Taught them to use them as chicks. Put a nipple on bottom of a hanging cup in their Broder. As they got bigger kept making bigger waterers. Now have a 25 gallon tank that is Plummed to 4 nipples inside coop and 5 nipples under coop..in run.
I have the main feeder outside and 5 water nipples in a pvc pipe in run. Also separate feeder for crushed oyster shells. Have a small freezer and 4 water nipples inside of coop. They spend most of there time out in run. The run is covered so no problem with rain.

Here is the poop catcher under there roost. Works great. I clean it with a shop VAC and I hen in the compost. When the girls started laying, I found a egg in there. May be a solution to your problem.
Was having a problem with flies in coop even though I have a poop catcher so not alot on coop floor. Have used both pine shavings and straw on floor, no difference. Read somewhere that vanilla car air freshener would remove them so off to dollar General I go. Put 3 hanging in coop where girls...
Hi Dom, how are the girls doing? Hoping for first eggs next month. Do you ever give them watermelon on hot days? Mine like it on a hot afternoon. In 90's here now. Gave them yogurt and banana for a treat this morning, they loved it. Cheers to you and tell Patrick hi for me :)
