Can someone help me with bumblefoot? PIC WARNING

The PRID is amazing! Our hen has had bumblefoot on and off forever. She is just prone to it. None of the other hens have it. I even gave her prednisone for a bit trying to clear up whatever immune system problem she was having. The bumblefoot comes back. But the PRID works a real charm. And...

    Roost and Mites

The chickens are back in their coop tonight. Though seriously confused with the new pain job. I need to move the water as I have just seen the Roosters is positioned perfectly over it. But I like the hanging roosts. No places touching the walls. And it was fun using the flame thrower in the...

    Roost and Mites

I use Baristol Animal oil on the birds themselves. I put it in a spray bottle. The idea is the same as the Vaseline to suffocate them. I am going to use caulking in the cracks. More long term and less smeary.

    Roost and Mites

Thank you! Yes all things in our coop are removable. The biggest hiding place has been the roost holder on the wall. So now that there is a fresh coat of paint tomorrow I will caulk all the cracks and buy double sided tape. I got some horse spray which is organic and uses no chemicals. My...

    Roost and Mites

Great tips! Thank you. I am in Germany. But honestly, this has been an issue since last year the whole season.I think it started with a hen that we got as a gift. Yes, a whole year of this terror. We lost 2 chickens along the way. I thought I had it under control then....sad. I have also wormed...

    Roost and Mites

Hi I have been fighting these terrible things RED MITES 100% for over a year. Renovating the coop will help lower places where the mites can hide during the day. The current issue is they hide up against the wall where the roost are attached. I find them there in piles that fall out of the...

    Roost and Mites

We are rebuilding and fighting a retched infestation of mites. They hide at the end of the roost bars (in under and at the ends where it attaches to the wall). I would love tips, photos or links of your roost bars that inhibit these rotten bloodsuckers. We need a new plan. I am Painting and...

    Bumblefoot drawing salve or Potato?

Hi thanks for asking. I got 2 different types of drawing salve. The US brand and a European version. I didn't try the potato. The biggest problem is the depth of the hole in her foot. It is directly in the middle of her foot. I dug out most of the bad stuff then packed it with the salve for 4...

Help- my favorite hen is very sick!

have you given her a DeWormer? I suggest scrambled eggs and plain clear water. If she is going to eat and be thirsty those basics will help her get through. Our favourite hen died (April) and since then all of our other hens have developed worms. I was sad to lose her but think she was the one...
