Sounds like a hawk to me. We had chicks being raised by a broody, and they would go through our chicken wire fence into our open front yard. We wouldn't hear anything, but almost every other night, the broody would be missing another chick. We have 2 hawks that will take a chicken every so...
So I am staring to think that this little guy, is now a little girl. Tail feathers are growing in and seem pretty small, and comb is staying pale pink and is pretty small as well.
I am so so frustrated! We have been dealing with hawks, but our last killing was in January, and now I have this other predator to deal with. We had a fox last year and a raccoon the year before that, both are dead now, but this other thing has popped up. I went out this morning and noticed a...
Hi,
I had a broody start sitting on eggs on Monday, but then yesterday night she got off and slept on the roost. She was still making broody noises and clucking her head off this morning so I stuck her back in the nest and she sat back down on the eggs again. She is an 11 month old Buff...

Thanks Alpine for the tip. I will keep an eye on these two as they grow, I was thinking about possibly keeping both until they are fully mature, then deciding. I already have 2 cochin roos though, and about 25 hens, so there is not too much room for many more roos. Although these little SFH boys...
Thanks! That is what I thought, but I wasn't sure. I will definitely be keeping one of these cockerels, I just don't know how to choose, they are both so pretty.
Here are some updated pics. I am not sure what order I put them in last time, but I will group pics of each chick together.
Chick #1 (pretty sure this is a pullet)
Chick #2 ( I am thinking pullet as well)
Chick #3: (not sure about this one)
And Chick #4
So, my favorite blue cochin roo is down with something, and it doesn't look good. I had noticed that he has been looking a bit mopey, but we just got a new Rooster and the blue got beaten up by him. So, I thought it was case of the mopes. Then, he started to get a bit of diarrhea and so I wormed...
