Can anyone tell me if my 6 week old blue wyandotte is a boy or girl?

Her waddle is much redder than my other chicks but they are also different breeds. I tried to get a good shot of her comb. Any guesses would be appreciated. THANKS

Feeding adults and chicks need suggestions.

Thank you all for your input. I will try to get out this weekend to pick up some flock raiser. Then give the unused portion of medicated to sister for her chicks. This will certainly make things easier.

Feeding adults and chicks need suggestions.

Hi there, I have 5 adult hens and recently picked up 4 chicks. The chicks are 6 weeks old now. The chicks are on a medicated starter/grower and the big girls on laying mash. How can I get everyone fed properly without having to separate them for 18 weeks. I am sure I would need to discontinue...

Managing VERY Baby Chicks....and a vacation.

I would agree water is going to be your biggest problem. I would have someone check in on them at least once. It will give you peace of mind to enjoy your trip. I know I would jump at the chance to check in on some baby chicks. Find a kid you can trust. :) Have a fun trip.

    eggs

I don't have a rooster but I'm pretty sure there is no problem with eating fertilized eggs. You might just see a blood spot in them. I even think I have seen them in the stores. But again I am no expert and have never had a rooster to deal with. I think they are beautiful butI live in a city...

    Rats outsmarting my traps

I have had a beast of a problem with rats. They took over my shed and even started in on my garden. I have tried humane traps, snap traps, sticky traps, and a safe to use product for livestock (dont know just what it was). Mind you I live in the city. I really didn't want to use poison but I...

    eggs

I'm no expert but fertilization comes before you get eggs. You would need to keep your male away from the hens.

    I need help please

My sister and her 15 year old daughter just built a coop and run for their 3 chicks. So I have faith that you too can get this done. She used some of the same materials we did. My husband and I also just put an addition on to our already existing coop and run. Our first coop was a shed we...

    Suddenly broody after one year!

I too have a buff that is/was broody. I would make sure to get all eggs from her as often as I could and give her little massages. I was taking her out of the box now and again and offer treats. I also keep mine in a run so when I would take her out I would also allow my girls to run the...

    cukoo marans pullet or roo?

Thanks. I sort of thought that but wanted to put it out there. I have been watching for any change in comb but haven't seen any difference. Have you had cukoo before? If so are they calm or flighty. I also picked out a welsummer and a blue wyandotte. They don't cry as much when I pick them up...

    cukoo marans pullet or roo?

I recently got 2 cuckoo marans that are about 6 weeks old now and I have noticed that one has a short tail and thick legs. While the other has a more defined feathered out tail that is upright w/ skinnier legs. Is the tail any indication of sex or is it just all in the genes?
