We have this coop. Which is an awful design. We moved it under our deck and fully enclosed the space for their run. The chickens will not sleep inside because the roosting area is so low. any ideas on how we could retro fit a sleeping area for them that's easier to clean than having to scrape...

    Can pullets really crow?

I have a 5-6 week old Rhode Island Red that has started to make a crowing sound. I've had chicks make weird noises but this, this is a full body loud barking sound! Everyone says hens can crow, hens never crow, roosters don't crow this early, it's definitely a rooster. So who's ever had a hen...

Hello we have a coop with attached fully enclosed run. It's just not big enough but I don't want to fully free range my small flock. Looking to add a larger fenced in area. Is it safe to use a larger hole hardware cloth or regular chicken wire for this area for just during the day since they...

    Coop ventilation

Hello! This is a pre fab coop we got for our two chickens. Would love to know if you guys think this is enough ventilation. We also live in Maine so it will be cold this winter so I worry about drafts but this doesn't seem like it's enough. It's that little door about 2 inches by 6 inches.

    Pull out tray coop

We were gifted a small pull out tray (under roosts) coop. Does anyone have this type? Do you use shavings inside the tray? Should it all be scraped out daily? I'm guessing deep litter method doesn't work in a small area and you couldn't pull the tray out. I have two chicks in the brooder still...

We had to raise it maybe 3 feet above them for them to finally settle down. So what watt bulb should I get...
