I do have pictures but unloaded my phone last night because it ran out of storage! :) I'm a picture hog. I'll try to update later tonight with a group shot.

Help! I've rescued 12 abandoned duck eggs...

All 12 hatched!! I had to help one who was stuck & couldn't zip. She was really struggling but she turned out fine! The last one was a little weak & took a really long time but is also doing great. I turned them all over to the rehabber after they hatched. After meeting her, I feel confident she...

Baby's hatching! Yolk sac detached ...

Yes! That is probably it. 11 of them have hatched and only one had what was probably a yolk sac with veins. She got stuck and was in distress and I had to help her along. I hope she makes it but I am not sure. The other stuff was connected to their umbilical cord and detached as soon as they...

Baby's hatching! Yolk sac detached ...

My baby ducks are starting to hatch. The first two scooted out of their eggs & huddled. Both left yolk sac's behind. Is this bad? They're laying in the incubator & seem fine. Sac's are also laying in the incubator. Should I remove?

Help! I've rescued 12 abandoned duck eggs...

All 12 eggs have a small crack. Some of the shell is gone. It's taking a long time & I don't want them to dry out. This process started on three of them last night & the rest today. I can hear them & see the eggs moving. One is quite loud. But none are out or showing any more signs of coming...

Help! I've rescued 12 abandoned duck eggs...

The dish is only there for humidity purposes. I have another large box ready to go when they hatch. I did mist them a bit ago. I can hear them & see movement. It's still warm in the box & I still have the heating pad on low. I think I need to be patient & know they'll come when they're ready...

Help! I've rescued 12 abandoned duck eggs...

I have about 6 with cracks. I have always had a bowl of water in the box where they are being incubated. I'm wondering if I should lightly mist them to help soften the shells or take out the water now? Or less water in the dish? The cracks appeared last night & haven't changed. It's not been a...

Help! I've rescued 12 abandoned duck eggs...

I live in a very residential area. Not the country. There are plenty of ponds & creeks. And there is no designation between wild & feral. Ducks are a federally protected migrating bird. I've spoken with a state wildlife rehabilitator. I can't raise them & I don't want to. Only need to know what...

Help! I've rescued 12 abandoned duck eggs...

The mother either gave up or was scared off. It was cold (40*+) for two mornings & I thought for sure they would be dead. I called the local wildlife rehabilitator & she said the mother wasn't coming back & I coujd dispose of the eggs after a few days. She was kind & helpful but limited in...
