    Seems like it took FOREVER!!

Ha thanks! I knew there was SOMEONE out there who would appreciate me! Ok, ok, here it is. Not that anyone asked. But I am sure that lots of people were hoping I would post it. Well, maybe not but here it is anyway. http://www.magisto.com/video/M1sBMggKA2wtUENpYw

Felt good about my coop until I put up a camera at the bird feeders

That is what we are planning to do if we have issues. I was thinking of a solar powered small system that runs around the perimeter. What is interesting is that the bears don't mess with our trash that much. Now our neighbor down the street gets ransacked every week.We eat a ton of...

Felt good about my coop until I put up a camera at the bird feeders

I did the best I could, 1/2 inch hardware cloth, 2x4s, dug a foot below and buried more hardware cloth... Luckily they are more interested in getting into the garbage cans than the coop right now. Of course that could change, but not sure what else we can do. Hope we just stay lucky

I too have been on egg watch! I was told that my golden comet would lay at about 18-20 weeks, and my buff orpingtons would lay around 22-26 weeks. Week 18 came, and nothing. Week 19 came and I would check each day (ok maybe a few times each day, but who is counting). Nothing. And a gentle...

    Post your FIRST EGG pics!

We got two in one day! I was so excited I made a video! I was off work and saw two of our birds in the nesting box and making quite a racket. So I got my camera and caught one of my buff orpingtons and our golden comet laying an egg! The buff walked right out and told the whole...

Thanks so much for the welcome. We have three buff orpintons, one golden comet, and an EE. We got them at the end of February and we waited and waited for eggs. In the last three days, we went from no eggs at all to two eggs this morning. We were so excited, calling family, it really was...

Hi, just wanted to thank everyone for all the info that I have been using in raising our first batch of chickens. From breed info, coop designs, feeding questions, and many more things, I have found this site to be invaluable. Could not thank everyone enough. Thanks!
