Where do I start with this chicken. We got our first egg today and I'm pleasantly surprised, it's about a large size egg, just a tad smaller than our store bought extra large eggs. This chicken is the goofball of our flock. Always the first out of the coop, first to run up and get a treat...

Review by '' on item 'Cochin'

We have a cochin bantam and she is definitely our favorite chicken. Any one of us can bend right down and pick her right up without the least bit of trouble. She will let you hold and pet her. I think she actually enjoys it. She is very tiny so easy to hold. She has so many feathers, she's...

    Caponizing?

Thank you all for the information and advice. I think we'll just wait and see. If it starts crowing, i guess we'll have to re-home. I know we will find someone to take it pretty easily as it's sure a cute little thing.

    Pullet or Cockerel?

Our chickens are between 4-4.5 months old now and I'm getting concerned our Black Cochin Bantam, our favorite chicken, may be growing into a rooster. It doesn't crow yet, but seems to have features developing that tell me it's a male. Can anyone confirm or deny my suspicions? We are not...

    Caponizing?

We have a black cochin bantam, cutest thing ever! It's our favorite chicken. It will let the kids hold and pet it. I'm not completely sure yet it's a rooster, but sure looks like it's developing into one, will watch and see. Plus it grew up with the other three we have. I'd sure hate to...

    Caponizing?

I am wondering if anyone knows of a vet in the Salt Lake City, UT area that will caponize a chicken? We have one that appears to be a rooster as it's growing up and we are not allowed to have roosters in our area. I have also heard that they often do not crow if done at a young age. Does anyone...

    Do capons crow?

It looks like we have a rooster too which we would keep except they're not allowed in the city so we have to do something with it. It's actually our favorite chicken so I hate to get rid of it if there is another option. Was there ever a concensus reached on this thread??
