    Ducks not laying

They are pure white with orange beaks and feet. They are a year old and this is the first experience with ducks. The have an enclosed shelter with straw and they can come and go as they please. They used to bury them in their nest of straw, then stopped when I found them. That's when they quit...

    Ducks not laying

Our two ducks were laying everyday until it got cold. I thought they layed right through the cold. Could they be hiding their eggs? I have looked everywhere and have not found any outside of their cubby.

We have two ducks among our chickens. While the chickens have a place above the ducks, how should we winterize the ducks coop? Old hen?

We keep the yard chemical free, and they are getting 20% protein in their layer feed. Fresh water for all 7 everyday, and a very clean coop. She is the top of the pecking order. She makes a faint and weak noise. I took her out of the nest and noticed she was a little shaky for a few seconds on...

    Old hen?

We have a hen which we found 2 1/2 years ago, and thought she might be 1-2, but can't say since we never had chickens until her. She is a Bantam Brahma. She has been normal and a good layer. Two days ago we noticed she wanted to stay in the coop, in a nest. She lays an egg, but won't come out...

Heat for brahmas and opringtons in wyoming

How warm should a hen house be in the Wyoming winters when it gets down to -17 in the night and a high of 19 during the day? My husband argue about this and I put a heat lamp outside their door in the open coop. This provided some warmth during the night, but not too warm. Do Brahmas, opringtons...

    Chickens not laying

thank you for your help. The scratch says it is 16% for laying hens. I have the crumbles for added protein which I was told they need in the winter. They free range in the spring and summer. They seem content and secure. I will continue to wait and enjoy them in the meantime!
