Help please. My 2 week old EE seems to be choking. she keeps opening her mouth like she is going to crow, but no sounds come out. I looked in her mouth and saw a bunch of food, so I sucked it out with a dropper. She doesnt seem to be changing or chirping.
HELP!@@@
Available in Bakersfield California only. I will deliver.
He is so handsome and gentle. He is sweet with the ladies and comes to his name - Andy. My neighbors have complained about him crowing, and unfortunately he has to go. We got him a week ago from a friend who couldn't keep him.
My rooster Andy is 1.5 years old Black Astralorp. The last couple of days I have noticed that the last 2 points on his comb are kinda bluish purple.
Anyone know what might be wrong?
He is eating, drinking as normal. Still crowing, running/walking around like normal. All seems normal except...
So far I am 2 for 2 in the aggressive bad roo department. The first was a NHR. He had to go @25 weeks because he continued to attack my youngest daughter and scratched up her belly. Rehabilitation was tried, with no success, so we traded him for a laying hen (he ended up in our friend's soup...
We had a very unruly/mean rooster. He was so handsome, but could not be rehabilitated from attacking my daughters. We processed him on Monday night using directions I found on this board - THANK YOU!
The only thing I noticed was how hard it seemed to skin him and how long the body twitched...
I have 3 - 18 week old EE's. 1 roo and 2 pullets. The rooster just started crowing last week and this week is practicing his mating on the two other EE's. I also have 6 other pullets that are 24 weeks. 2 are laying, 3 are point of lay, and 1 I have no idea is she is anywhere near ready...
I have 5 23 week old pullets that are not laying yet. One of them has the bright red big wattles and comb (new hampshire red), she also looks like her but is getting wider..hehe. The 2 barred rocks are getting bigger wattles, but not yet red. The remaining 2 RIR def. still need to mature.
My...
This morning I went out and looked in the nest box like I have done for 2 weeks, and I was beyond thrilled to find a perfect creamy tan egg! I am pretty sure it is from the laying hen pictured below. We traded our aggressive rooster for her about 2 weeks ago. Now my other 5 pullets that are...
My pullets are 22 weeks old (1 NHR, 2 BR, 2 RIR) and 16 weeks old (2 EE). I am wondering, due to the decreased light during the winter, will they lay their first eggs around the average time, or will it be delayed until spring?
Thanks!
I am considering culling my rooster. He is 17 weeks. When I feel over him, his keel bone is pretty prominent and while he is pretty big now, he feels mostly feathers. He free ranges and has the option to eat grower feed at any time.
How do I go about getting more meat on him if I want to...
My cockerel is a 17 week old New Hampshire Red.
about 2 weeks ago he started crowing, and has become agressive towards me, the dog, the cat, and his ladies.
Agressive towards me includes - bum rushing me, flying at me with his hackles raised and pecking me, stopping his feet and then he has...
I need help understanding what can cause a droopy comb in a cockerel.
Some info:
he is 11 weeks old. Right about 10 weeks his comb drooped over to the left, not all the way to touch his eye, but no longer erect.
He is a New Hampshire Red.
I have thouroughly checked for mites and lice -...
Not sure if this is the correct place to post, so please move if not appropriate here.
How much should my 10 week old New Hampshire Red cockerel weigh? What should his body feel/look like?
Thanks!
What does it mean when my 10 week old rooster has a comb that is drooping over to one side?
It is really hot here, but all my chickens have access to multiple waterers, wading pool and plenty of shade.
Please help, I hope he is not sick!!
How many hens will I need to keep my Rooster happy (not too many to protect) and the hens with feathers (not too little so that they are mated way too often?)
Right now I have 1 cockerel, 8 pullets.
My 9 week old barred rock pullet some how managed to break one of her toe nails partially off. I found out about it because I found a blood trail that led to her. I looked at it and it appears that just the tip is broken off and the quick is exposed, but there is also some blood coming out...
The pullet in question is on the far right and is the darker black pullet. The on are the far left I am sure is a BR pullet:
I am going to get more photos this afternoon.
Thanks!
Belle is just the best dog I have ever owned. She is trained as a bird dog, but is very well trained and obedient and actually loves protecting her girls.
