So, just this week, I went to the doctor for headaches (been having them for months and they were starting to worry me). They called back the next day with my blood-work results and concluded I have hypoglycemia, and to get on a diet ASAP.
Here is the thing, I am lost on what to eat or what to...
I have 3 RIR roosters that need a new home. They are located in Schuylkill County, PA and must be picked up. They hatched in September 2015 so they are fairly young. We were to have gotten 10 hens and in fact ended up with only 6 (one unfortunately passed). Right now I have 7 roosters, and since...
I am looking for new things to put on the menu, and everything I find, I get the stuff and then resort back to the same old. Share with me your favorites !
I have two roosters that I am not sure of the breed. We were told that they were a Buff Orpington/RIR cross, but by the feathers on their feet, I don't believe so..This is Cy.
I have 9 Rhode Island Reds that we purchased as chicks, and they are all to be hens. At the moment, I believe that two or three of them are turning out to be roosters. I don't have any pictures of them currently, but when I get to go out, I will take some and see what you think, but in the mean...
Come this spring, my husband and I will be preparing part of our yard for gardening. We aren't sure what we want to grow, what time to grow some plants, or how to keep my 100 lb. American Bulldog out of it. (He loves to eat that dang dog.) If anyone has any good pictures of their setup, that...
Hey everyone! I am looking to see who else owns this amazing breed of dog. There isn't a lot where I am from (considering I had to travel 10 hours to Ohio and back for mine), and I want to see if there are any close to me! I will post a picture of my crazy boy next :)
My chickens (two silkies right now) have put a stop to their egg laying. Now, it is wintertime and that's what I think the problem is, but being a first year chicken owner, I am not quite sure. The temperatures in PA haven't been at an all time low as past winters have been, so I have not...
Hello everyone! I'm Ashley from PA and I was looking into getting some turkeys. First off, I am not familiar with breeds or different kinds, I was always told a turkey was a turkey. I fortunately got to have my own flock of chickens this past year, and I have learned so much from raising them...
these are my buff Orpington/RIR crosses. I'm not sure what sex as we were just sold them without sexing at about a week old. any input helps :)
and the one on the left hand side.
I am having a hard time thinking of some chicken coop names. I have so many things that I can tie a coop name to, but can't think of anything good. I would need this for the stickers to put on the eggs boxes.
Idea #1
Of course, our last name . Emerich (Em-rik)
Idea #2
The coop is actually on...
I have 6 week and 8 day old RIR hens. I have kept them in a smaller pen before introducing them to my flock, even though they are also young (3-5 months), have grown much faster than the RIRs. Is this common? We have moved them into a bigger pen thinking that with much more space they will grow...
How often does everyone clean out their coop and what is the best bedding you found to keep in it? right now I have straw in there, and it seems to get icky very quickly! thanks !
Hey Everyone!
I'm Ashley from Pennsylvania (Schuylkill County)! We are very new to the backyard chicken scene, and we are loving it. It's like an obsession to be honest. We have quite the array of breeds (silkie, buff orpington/rhode island red cross, and rhode island red) and are looking to...
Hey Everyone!
My family and I are looking to expand our flock and I thought that I would see if there are any chickens that need rehoming in Pennsylvania. Right now we have 3 roosters and 11 hens. Pictures of coop are available :) Thanks for reading!
Ashley!
