Cluckcluck1215 sorry for the late reply. We moved a short time ago and the coop is on loan to a friend until we get back. From memory, the floor space was 1200mmx1200mm. Walls were also 1200x1200, Basically I did a cube as the plywood sheets were in 2400x1200. I cut them to 1200x1200 for ease...

    our Aussie Coop

Approximate sizes only. This was a rough sketch and used as a guide only. Posts were 100x100. I then used framing timber. The sheets of ply for the walls were 9mm thick and came in sheets of 2400x1200. The dimensions were 1200x1200 as it made it easy to cut a sheet in half then fit...

Aussie coop and run - from build to chooks

They can be a little destructive but no too bad. We haven't caught them yet, but something has been eating the strawberries and roses. And that was before the chooks. Either roos or bilbys. We have bilbys too.

They are so entertaining. Hilarious to watch run around. Those are kangaroos in the yard. We are semi rural where we are. It's great to wake up and open the back of the house in the morning. We get to sit there having breakky and watch them. They take off in the day time but come back in...

Thanks sunflour. The whole family is really enjoying having the chooks. It's great to sit outside and watch them and hear them 'talk' to you.

Aussie coop and run - from build to chooks

Chooks had some new feeders and waterers put in today. They have been out for most part of the day and free ranged. We now have 4 eggs a day and our brown should be the next to lay. Love having the chooks.

Hopefully these help show the inside s bit. I have two nesting boxes and put a bit of ply in between them. The roost was fitted diagonally and is about 300mm high.

Aussie coop and run - from build to chooks

Here we have our coop and run in the yard. I will go back a few paces and show the build in the shed. I started off with 100mmx100mm posts that I cut down for the legs and then braced them with 70mmx35mm framing timbers. The long lengths that over hang and take the weight of the nesting box is...

    Aussie backyard coop.

The wife and I have been contemplating a coop for a while. The build started when I was given a choice. Build one, or buy one! I wanted to build as I believe the quality would be better and last a lot longer. Only problem was... I had not made anything since first year of high school, and I only...
