I think I know the answer to this but I just wanted to see if it was a no brainer, and needed to rehome immediately, or if it was worth waiting and seeing if it could possibly be a hen. Seven weeks. I have another that looks the same with just a slightly smaller lighter comb. But not much. If...
I got these straight run and took the chance because I wanted the dark eggs! Everyone else in the pen should be females. They are five weeks old. They were very dark as chicks but now have more comb than the other chicks of different breed. Hen or roo? Fingers crossed!
I have a white Polish who is 19 weeks. I have never had one before so am not familiar with how to tell gender in this breed. It has absolutely no waddle or comb and has not crowed yet. The round mop on top says female to me, but I feel like some of the feathers near the base of the tail are...
This will be my first winter with chickens in New England. I have had the water in the enclosed run but when it got cold I put it inside the coop a few weeks ago. But it has just been making the coop too wet. So today I moved it back into the run, with a heat puck in it. The first half of our...
Love this littl guy/girl! About ten weeks old, and pretty much no comb. Tail feathers seem to be round except for the longest ones which have been pecked at so may not be a good representation. How do you tell the sex with these guys? What do you think, hen or roo?
These two are both bantams, so are mini. They live peacefully in the coop together but once I let them out to free range they do an equal amount of chest bumping and hackle feather raising. I'm 90% sure the white one is a roo but he's so little and funny I've let him stay. Fingers crossed that...
I have never had turkens before and am hoping they are just a little redder than the usual chicken. Hoping at least one is a hen! Six weeks old. And while we are at it, how about the black and white one in the pic? Breed? Gender?
So this one is at least 10 weeks old, but very small! About the same size as my 10 week silkie. Was thinking Easter egger but it has feathered feet. Reddish comb but not crowing and no aggression. Hen or rooster? And what breed?
