    Recently mean drake?

Oh dear, I was hoping to hear that it might have gotten better over time. Guess not!! What do you think you'll do? I'm feeling somewhat forgiving towards our Zac because I know it's his hormones driving him and that's not his fault. But he's certainly taken all the joy out of having him as...

    Recently mean drake?

@KrisCVT Just wondering if your drake is still being aggressive and how old he is? Our drake Zac has been getting steadily more aggressive over the last couple of months (he's now 5 1/2 months) and he's acting exactly the same as yours - with chasing, grabbing and pulling hard at my clothing...

Duck Breed Focus - Welsh Harlequin

No... and yes. Our Zachary manages to fly about 2 - 3 meters when jumping off a bank to the grass below or if there is a downward slope. However, yesterday we had quite a comical turn of events. He was walking (waddling!) down a steep driveway and suddenly it became very windy. He was walking...

    Male or Female Welsh Harlequins?

Yes, that's not right - especially if you've paid for them. I would think that you'd be within your rights to return them as you haven't got what you paid for (not that you would - they're still very sweet!). Might be worth raising the issue with the seller at some stage though...

Funny pics of our duck's trip to the vet

Thanks for your kind comments. It turned out she had conjunctivitis - some antiflammatory and antibacterial eyedrops sorted it out pretty quickly and a couple of days later she was back to her usual self!

Funny pics of our duck's trip to the vet

Just thought all you duck lovers might appreciate these funny pics we took of our duck Tallulah, when she went to the vet the other day. We initially tried to take her in a dark box, as we figured this would keep her calm in the new environment of a car. Disaster - she HATED it and by the time...

Duckling extravaganza *Runner, Saxony, Magpie, and Silver Appleyard*

Just found this thread and I'm loving following the progress and photos of your babies!! We have a Magpie duck, Tallulah, so I'm keen to see how your Magpies turn out! Our Tallulah has such an awesome nature. Still extremely friendly, despite being a 4 month 'adult' now, and still loves cuddles!

    Male or Female Welsh Harlequins?

Unfortunately I don't have experience with ducks other than Welsh Harlequins and Magpie ducks, but I'm thinking possibly a Khaki Campbell? If you google the different duck breeds and look at Google Images, you'll get a really good idea of what the different breeds look like. Or check out the...

    Male or Female Welsh Harlequins?

Hi there, I'm pretty certain that your darker ducklings are not Welsh Harlequins due to their colouring (very sweet babies though!). Welshes are much lighter at this age and have quite distinctive markings. Perhaps someone else can suggest what you might have. The duckling that honks is...

Duck Breed Focus - Welsh Harlequin

Yes, naughty little Zachary alright! Luckily he is such a gorgeous little man - very calm and tolerant, and a 'super-duck' when it comes to finding bugs, crickets and worms etc! I love the names Jemima and Rebeccah! Zachary Quack's sister Tallulah was almost called Jemima Puddleduck! Fingers...

Duck Breed Focus - Welsh Harlequin

Yes, that makes sense. It was a bit 'disastrous' on the egg-laying front, as we only have 2 ducks and had really hoped that they were both girls so that they could 'earn their keep' with a couple of eggs (hopefully!) a day between them. But we adore Zachary who is so calm and tolerant, and he...

Duck Breed Focus - Welsh Harlequin

I thought you might like to see what our Zachary Quack looked like when he was 2 days old. He had a pink beak with dark tip and we chose him because of this, convinced he was a girl. So he started off life as Daisy and we looked forward to her egg laying capabilities. But by 10 weeks, the few...

    New Magpie Thread!!!!

Here's our beautiful 10 week old Magpie girl Tallulah. She's such a darling and still gets so excited when we go down to the garden to visit and give her cuddles:

What kind of ducklings are these?

Or possibly Magpie Ducks? Here's a pic of ours (the one in the front) at about the same age:

    Gettng ducks

We have a couple of backyard ducks - a Welsh Harlequin and a Magpie duck. Neither can fly and both are supposed to be great egg layers (although unfortunately our WH turned out to be a drake and our Magpie female is still a few months away from laying). Welsh Harlequins are supposed to be...
