Mutt update!!' Twinkie is now 3.5 weeks old. She's mixed from a bantam splash frizzle roo on a buff Orp hen. Still no idea on sex here but the coloring so far is really interesting.
Here's Maude with one of the mutts she hatched sitting atop her. The photo right below that is Pepper. She's 12 days old and she's a splash sizzle. Her mommy is Maude and Dad, Harold my splash sizzle roo that I had to give away due to being in the city. I'm sure 12 days is too soon to tell sex...
This chick is named Twinkie and is the result of a bantam splash sizzle (silkie/Cochin) on a buff Orpington. That's Maude, my super sweet broody who hatxhed the eggs. I have no idea what Twinkie will look like but I'm excited to see the progress. This photo is maybe at 3 days old. It's been a...
It worked out perfect! I moved the makeshift brooder box to my small coop and integrated the the two chickens from there to the main house. A couple days later and I have two babies! Welcome Twinkie and Pepper
I have tried twice to move my hen and her eggs but she end right back to her original nesting spot. Today one of the chicks made her first pip! There are 3 eggs total but one may not have developed.
Anyways, my idea today was to take an old plastic tote I made into a brooder for chicks from...
I can't stand the suspense! I have a broody silkie/Cochin and she's sitting on 3 eggs that were fertilized right at the time I had to give my rooster away :( so it's almost day 21 and I keep checking in on her. I can't wait to see the little chicks :) one from my buff Orp, one from my barred...
I saw the word coffee in the title and I perked right up I'm in the one pot per day club. Thought I'd offer this. One day i'd like to turn this quote into a cute piece of art for my kitchen
I just got one light brahma from the feed store about six weeks ago. She looks almost like yours in size and coloring. I think they're beautiful and I love the feathered feet! She's already pretty sweet too!
This is Maude. She's a bantam silkie/Cochin, and she likes to swing with me in the hammock! She's so sweet and she's so quiet too. When she's needy she runs after my feet and lightly pecks my ankle until I pick her up.
Today I discovered that one of my hens likes to sit on a succulent garden I planted inside a cute little metal rooster planter. Then she pecks the plants out. I'd get mad but it's too cute to watch!
This little guy is cute and pretty tame. But I am In city limits and the crowing just won't fly with my neighbors. I'm trying to give him to a good home.
He's about 10 months old. I've raised him on organic feed and mostly free ranged him. He's smaller than my regular sized barred rock and...
I asked for a Black Jersey Giant pullet and this is what I got. My first assumption is she's a barred rock. Is there a chance it is anything else but that? Secondly, anyone want to guess the sex? I think the chickies is between 1 and 2 weeks (totally guessing)

In the picture, the smaller smooth bird is the Silkie/Cochin female and the bigger bird in the back is the Silkie/Cochin with Frizzled gene rooster. My understanding is that is what a sizzle is. A Frizzled Silkie/Cochin mix.
More apparent on the girl, but they have the Silkie traits of 5 toes...
Here's Harold and Maude. They're Silkie/Cochin mix and Harold is a sizzle. They've got 5 toes and Little blue cheeks, but not Silkie feathered. If I breed them, is there any chance of getting a Silkie feathered bird, or will they all be smooth or possibly Frizzled? Is there any danger in...
