6/10 of the light Sussex have hatched so far, 3 bantams have pipped (one has a tiny beak sticking out chirping but has decided he’s not ready to come out yet :lau)
The 6 hatchlings are currently playing football with the remaining eggs so going to have some pretty dizzy chicks :lau
Argh! Day 21 and anxiously waiting on 22 eggs with no sign of any hatching
Would it make a difference that the eggs were originally put in the incubator about 11pm at night?
Hoping to see some chicks by morning but how many days do I leave them before calling it quits and turning it off?
My friend got 3 runner ducklings and sadly lost 2. She asked if I could take it on as she didn’t want it to be alone while she was at work etc me being me couldn’t say no
No idea how old he/she is but it’s just started getting its adult feathers on its ‘tail’
I have 5 khaki Campbell chicks...
Can’t believe how many babies I’ve missed :love
For us we have finally reached

Sad to report that Steve the albino failed to thrive and crossed the rainbow bridge during his first night
No idea wether it was the stress of moving home or problems related to being an albino.
We got home and they all went straight into the brooder & tried not to disturb them for the first...
Had them 2 weeks now, I’ve got a double coop/run where they both join at one end of the run (coop up each end) one run is where we put any new chickens (after quarantine) so our flock can see them up close but not get to each other. We’ve not got a quarantine coop in the garden as of yet as...
Hi! I’m in!
Currently have 12x mixed Pekin bantam (cuckoo lemon, gold partridge, lavender, black), 12x light Sussex, 12x ‘rare’ pure bred ixworth and 12x cherry valley x Aylesbury eggs in incubators.
Don’t think any of the cherry valley x Aylesbury are fertile (candeling now and dumping if no...
Are chicks noisier when they are hatched and raised by a hen?
We bought a naked neck hen and her chick at a bird auction and the chick literally doesn’t shut up :barnie it’s driving me insane!! The only time it quietens down a bit is when the hen sits on it but the hen only sits on it if I’m...
Yes although my name should be mummyof5 now:lau
Only my oldest (7 year old) is allowed in the coops (we have a separate quail coop/run, although she hasn’t been allowed in since he first started attacking. She’s quite happy sticking with the quail for now
We have another roo in the brooder but he won’t be ready to join the flock for a good few weeks.
We never planned on keeping roosters we just took what hatched.
We hatched 7 girls and 2 boys so got an ok deal.
2 of the girls are 8 weeks,
2 are around 14 weeks
And 2 are older (unsure of age but they are big)
Yes they are our first flock.
The girls are all very friendly and happy to sit on our laps.
