The d'uccles and the Wyandottes are so calm and sweet. The sebright is super spunky and doesn't like being held as much.
Also, this may be the most loved and spoiled guinea to ever live.
That's kind of hilarious. I didn't even realize guinea fowl came in any color but the grey. If that is right will she/he be ok as the only in a small flock of chickens? My only experience with guinea fowl is knowing neighbors that had them free range in the past. They had guineas at the store...
We have 6 new babies! We were going to wait until spring to get more chicks but we went in and that was it. Couldn't resist the only t two in the bins with feathered feet or the tiny white one.
I'd love breed guesses!
The group huddled together waiting on me to get the brooder set up.

I'm a newbie too. :) Our older babies (almost 6 weeks) were 4 to a 40 gallon tote. That worked well until about 4 weeks when enough was enough. I put them out in our huge dog cage during the day (with shade) and only in the brooder at night until 5 weeks when I let them spend the night outside...
OK. Not how I wanted to start my morning.
Our first batch of 4 chicks were from an organic local farm and did soo well (now almost 6 weeks) so I feel like I'm in new territory. My hubby surprised me with 6 little "crested mix" babies from atwoods last wednesday. One chick was a little "off"...
So 2/4 of our first ever batch of baby chicks are boys for sure (combs and wattles keep getting bigger and redder!). One even made an awful squawk sound this morning with his neck out! They will be off to new homes soon.
But last night my darling hubby surprised me with these tiny babies! I...
My feathered babes are a little over 4 weeks now. All straight run barnyard mixes.
#1 My favorite bird of course feathered in like our suspected girls but then that dang comb got all pink.

#3 - Have thought boy for this one just because of the feathering being patchy, pinking up...
Yeah, we'll contact the farmer we got them from first and see what he says or if he has any left. We'll see what happens!
The next question is if we get rid of 1-2 am I ok to bring in 1-2 to replace them or should we wait? New babies or older ones? I know we'd want to be careful about it. I...
Here's a few more. They changed so much so fast!!
Just from browsing here I am starting to think Rosie (possible RIR mix) is looking like a roo. :( I'll be so sad about it because sher/he's SO friendly. City rules though. No roosters.
Also, the little yellow one has some partially black...
More pictures! They will be 3 weeks in a couple days. They've changed and grown A LOT this week. :)
I'd love more guesses on breeds and gender!
Buttercup
Hedwig
Rosie

I have four different chicks. Straight run barnyard mix. We got them at 2 days on Sunday. Two of them at first seemed to be vying for #1 position, I guess. The other two have been passive. Well now the one has gotten crazy bossy/psycho and the others kind of put up with her. They have plenty of...
I'm a total newbie and these are unsexed "barnyard mixes" we got from a local farmer.
From top to bottom:

Rose Tyler
Princess Buttercup

All four of their cute backsides ^_^
