I've got a game hen raising some chicks and I found a dead one in the pen with one of my roosters. It had apparently jumped through the fence. Do games generally do this or is he just a bad rooster? I've not had game roosters very long but have always loved the game hens.
My progect Cornish X. Not sure that all are hens pretty sure ones a roo. Average wieght at 6 weeks is a shade over 2 pounds. Feed restriction is working lol.
Buff orps are somewhere in this mix. Average weight at around 7 oz at 3 weeks.
When i ordered it was all large fowl and it's keeping pace as far as growth with the rest so I'm assuming it's big stock. It's ugly as sin lol. I'm just curious what it is.
So far mine have done better than my chicks but I haven't had em very long. They seem very curious and at the same age can fly at least 5 times as high as my chicks
I have ~50 chicks. And 15 turkeys poults all a little over a week old. Thinking of mixing them together since the ones I decide to keep will be living together when they get big anyway. Thoughts? Potential problems? Chicks are RIR, BO, leghorns and BR's and poults are bourbon red and BB White.
Do you feel like it slows down rate of growth using such low protein levels? 28% is recommended. I'm just curious because I'm raising my first bunch of turkeys and worried about this.
Ordered some chicks from mcmurray and this is my free mystery chick. Ordered all standard size so I assume it is also but not 100% sure.[/IMG]
Can anyone identify breed?
Just wanted to post my experience with them because I was so tickled with it. I ordered 103 chicks and 15 poults. None dead on arrival. Only one had any physical defect that I could see. Time will tell on sexing accuracy and quality but I am very impressed so far.
1. Rhode Island Red because they are awesome and pretty lol.
2. American game because they are tough and great mothers.
3. Black jersey Giants because they are huge.
