Beautiful boy! I love watching them grow and finding out what they'll look like. 2 out of four isn't too bad. My friend hatched 4 and all of them were cockerels! Hoping we don't have the same luck.
I saw online that you can supposidly turn your chicks upside down - if their feet stay tucked...
The eggs should be dark by 22 days and show evidence of life. It sounds like the eggs are not fertile (or died early) if chicks are not growing by now.
Thanks for the great info. When referring to how the tail is I was just comparing the two Autsralorp tails - one has a higher tail than the other. So we were beginning to wonder if maybe one was a pullet and the other a roo
We have not heard a crow yet. Yeah the comb is more pink right now - but it's a bit bigger than the other ones. . We already have our two roosters and are hoping these are both hens!
We are wondering if one of our two Austalorps is a Roo?
I took a picture of both of them. And then the close up is if the one we think could be a Roo. They're about 6 weeks or so. What do you guys think? Why is ones tail going straight up and the others stays down.
Looking for opinions...
Thank you for your help! Nobody in incubation forum responded. I broke down and helped her. Couldn't wait any longer. Opened the top part and sure enough - She was stuck! So glad I assisted. She's beautiful and made it out about 2 hours after assisting her! Happy healthy little chick so far!
Humidity is at 66%. I'm very worried about the egg. I think you may be right. She may be stuck. I just posted in the other forum. Thanks for all your help!
Hi all,
We are incubating eggs. So far we have had one hatch and one die during unzipping. Right now we have an egg that pipped. It pipped early this morning (maybe 8am). Ever since about 1130am it has been wobbling back and forth. I think the chick may be stuck inside?? Should we assist...
We pulled the eggs from the hen because she kept getting off of them. So we are incubating them. The egg has just been wobbling back and forth for hours. We haven't heard it chirp in a while. Just moves back and forth. Perhaps we should crack a small hole for it?
So far - We have had one chick hatch and one died hatching. One pipped this morning around 8am maybe?? But it has not stopped moving since it pipped. And it isn't breaking through any more or zipping around the egg. We are worried! Do you know if this is normal?? The egg has been rocking all...
Thanks so much! We will have to be super attentive. Thankfully day 20th falls on a Sunday and then I am off work for spring break that next week. It should work out perfectly. I'm feeling a bit better about it. This is our first group of chicks... We've just been so concerned they would hop out...
