Totally normal. Beak color fluctuates after a few weeks similar to feather color. They sneeze to clear their airway from food or other objects. Sneezing with other symtoms (like runny nose) may indicate a problem.
Looks like a broken wing to me.. I've read something before about tieing the wing up with gauze against the chickens body to let it heal. There are youtube videos on casting up a broken wing with gauze.
Cockrell. Even though brahmas have pea combs, that is very red and developed for 3.5 months. My brahmas are 4 months and thier combs are still tiny like the day they were born. Brahmas tend to develop slow, but at this is on the other side of the scale. He does have 'hen' tail feathers, but he...
You can use NutriDrench, Blu Kote, or neosporin.
I don't reccomend the pick no more or Vet RX because they are for different purposes. You said you removed her? Pick no more is for protection against the other birds, therefore unnecessary. I think VetRX is for respiratory difficulties, which I...
The 'tooth' appears to be a broken feather to me. As for the feather loss, it may cause some bullying in the coop. As long as you keep an eye on it, you shouldn't have to 'evict' your broody hen. If the other chickens begin to bully her, you will have to take her out of the coop briefly. The...
Is she showing any other symtoms? My first guess was leg mites, but the scales on your chicken's feet don't appear to be pealing up.. Other probible causes could be from walking around on wire floors or jumping down from high perches. Barred Rocks can be fairly heavy birds, so sometimes that can...
This is false for brahmas. Brahmas have pea combs instead of straight combs, so there is no way to differentiate hens and roos by looking at the size of it at this age.. It will be more clear in a few weeks or so..
As for your cornish rock, you must cull it before 6 months of age or it will start having all sorts of health problems such as heart attacks, broken legs, etc. Cornish meat birds are genetically specified to grow fast for meat; faster than their poor bodies can handle. I though a first glance it...
They are not the same breed, but they have very similar characteristics. They are both very good layers, and have nice personalities towards people (at least mine do, not towards new birds, though) but the thing that separates them the most is sexing them when they're chicks. Isa browns are much...
Hi, I'm not new to BYC, but I never properly introduced myself. My name is Allison. I'm 15 years old, and I have an unhealthy obsession with chickens. My obsession started almost 1 1/2 years ago, when I was able to convince my dad to go to Tractor Supply to get about four. It was only then when...
None of them look pure bred (varied genetics through generations), so I'd guess cross breed Isa brown, cross breed buff orpington, and cross breed barred rock :)
I have a brahma feathering exactly like that! However light brahmas have feathers down their legs.. Mysterious! I'll do some research and get back with you later today :)
(Mine is a little bigger and has feathered legs)
UPDATE**
Zoey's wings are no longer stubby, and she jumps and eats as much as everyone else! She still isn't as developed as much as my other light brahma, however she is still growing :)
Chloe (normal wings)
Zoey (Her "twin" :) )
