Uh Oh, Rooster?? Not sure i want to take this on.

oh Man. I am worried to take it on perhaps because of the unknown, always had girls, and my sister just got her surprise Roo and he is quite vicious. But maybe we will let them free range if he is with them? We lost our last flock, 8 girls to a Fox family.....

Hawk attack. Killed my sweet hen. Worried about the others....

HUGS!! That is just awful, I have no thoughts on what to give them to eat but you should have a good strong cup of tea and relax now! We have been dodging hawks left and right all winter here. I wish the Hawks would go after the moles that have created a city in my front yard rather than my hens!

Sniff sniff, I became m own predator! :(

I have been up and down all winter saving chickens from multiple Hawk attacks, bathing one when she had a prolapsed egg, helping my molting chicken in freezing temps. The other day I looked out the kitchen window and saw yet another huge hawk flying low from the coop. Ugh! I was on my way out...

one little sneaky hen is hiding her stash. We discovered her first stash which was 4 eggs and removed them, the other day we found this one. I have been leaving them locked into their coop and run until I feel I have all the eggs, they are so ticked off at me! I am not sure how to stop this...

our chickens came to get us!! they were locked out

I feel so bad, but I am in awe too! they free range all day, it was raining out. Myself or my son went out to the coop to check in after eggs and maybe one of us closed the door to the coop that afternoon? In any case, the sun went down and we ( my family and I) were all in the kitchen when a...

    Egg Song and Neighbors

Gosh I had no idea there was actually a term for this "singing" I have some LOUD ladies and I get paranoid about it and like you run out and thrown them scratch and goodies. (That is why they are probably singing!!) When mine are the loudest however is after one just laid an egg and she is...
