Hello my 2 yr old hybrid hen is not eating properly, is losing weight, and unless approached just stands with her tail down and her head in to her neck. She will move if approached with her tail up. If I put Apple out she will eat this but not endlessly. The same applies to corn. She used to eat...
Hello. For over a week one of my chickens has been poohing a milky liquid pooh. The part two days her pooh looks like this. Milky with a yellow coloring. The chicken appears in generally good health and is eating lots. She may have lost a little weight but is moving fine. She eats layers pellets...
This is today's pooh. First thing out the coop. Definitely looks like egg yolk in there. What can I do? She is on normal layers pellets. All the others seem to be laying ok. But not frequently.
Hello. This is not your average post about a chicken with funny pooh. I have a bluebell that appears in good health, if not a tiny bit underweight. For 2 weeks now she hasn't laid more than 2 eggs and she has gone from yellow frothy pooh to very loose milky pooh with yellow in it, and one pooh...
hello. I have recently noticed my buff orp is losing feathers by the barrow load. This has probably been happening for two weeks. I have noticed feathers all over the garden. Mainly smaller ones. I put this down to moulting. She hasn't laid for 3 weeks. It is Summer here in the U.K. And the last...
Hi. Thanks. It's not as bad as those picks. The fluffy feathers under the vent are matted. There is def a dry scab on the bottom part of the vent. The whole area looks very dry. I'll try and get pics tomorrow afternoon.
Hello, I have recently noticed my 8 month old buff orpington has been leaving traces of blood on her eggs. I did some research and this lead me to visually examine the vent area. I found the general area to be very dry, almost eczema like. There is one small scab on the bottom part of the vent...
Thanks very much. My first thought was plucking. I'll check tonight re mites. I have applied anti pecking spray and a purple spray (same as blue kote). they have access to oyster shells all the time and I put some on the layers pellets. I'll look at an additional supplement. I feed corn as a...
Hi I've noticed this red marking on one of my chicks. She is 28 weeks and has alwAys has a bare behind. She is the head of the pecking order. I have never seen her feathers getting pecked or have ever found any feathers from her in the coop or pen. I wonder if she is removing her own small...
Hi. Thanks for the reply. Each of my 5 hens get an equal amount. They have layers pellets all day and about 2 handfuls of corn everyday between them, before sunset. I am careful not to over feed them corm.
One of the problem ones is the best layer
I had a pooh sample checked at the lab. The gave me flubevet to treat. The brackspyra was also found in the pooh. It can affect egg laying. I treated for this. I do appreciate all the advice. Maybe it's just a blip.
They get an equal amount of corn. I purposely don't give them too much. They are around 8 months old. They are in a large pen but I let them out frequently in my large garden. There is no light in their coop. My concern is that one of them is the best layer. Everyday. Without fail. They have...
Hi. I have got a couple of chicks that have been laying decent eggs for a few months but the last two days that has changed. One has laid two eggs in the last two days that were so soft that they have split in the nest box. The other laid a very soft shelled one today. The other three are still...
