    Chicken with frostbite

    When our temps got down to about 8 degrees a couple of weeks ago one of my hens got bad frostbite on her comb. The other 13 had no signs that it affected them. She has lost about 3/4 of her comb so far but doesn't seem to be suffering any ill effects from it other than getting picked on more...

    I tried the hanging cabbage idea on my chiks this morning. I hung it from the fence in the run with a coathanger and when I left there was cabbage flying everywhere. They loved it.

    chickens and rain

    It has been pouring rain and most of my chickens are all wondering around the run getting wet. 10 are outside and 4 are staying in. I didn't know if this was normal or not. Their food and water is inside the coop so I guess they must just get bored being inside and go wonder around in the rain.

    new chicken owner

    Just finished my coop about 2 weeks ago and got my chickens Saturday. I have 14 Rhode Island/White Leghorn cross. They seem to be settling in and I'm already getting 3 eggs a day.
