I picked up day old 5 Araucana chicks yesterday to add to our flock. Unfortunately we had a quite a drive (about 4 hours) before we got home. The chicks had a hot water bottle for the trip to keep them warm.
One of the chicks was quite newly hatched and was still damp when we picked it up and...
I had eggs in the incubator for 2 weeks before I transferred them to an experienced broody she's had them for 3 or 4 days. This morning I found a shell beside her and figured she'd eaten a bad egg. So I lifted her up to see how many eggs were left and found this:
Any ideas as to why?
I've hatched a couple of clutches under broody hens but this is my first time using an incubator so please forgive my ignorance. I've read a lot on this site and elsewhere but I'm still not sure when I should raise the humidity and stop turning the eggs.

I purchased a dozen Light Sussex eggs to put under a broody hen and all 12 hatched on New Years Day!
They're 7 weeks old now and I've separated four which I think are cockerels as they have more prominent combs but I'd like some confirmation before I re-home them.

My Light Sussex chicks hatched on New Years Day so they're 2 weeks old today. Unbelievably I hatched 12/12 under a broody hen (Wyandotte X RIR) in Australian Summer heat.
A couple of them have developed tail feathers already and I wonder if this is any indication of gender or is it too early...
